To expect an Amazon Prime order to arrive the next day?

BlueNeighbourhood · 30/10/2019 11:31

Just that really. As far as I was concerned, I pay however much per month to ensure that when I order a Prime item before the cut off point - I will receive the item the next day.

I ordered a Lego Architecture set and basically Pink's back catalogue of CD's (a recent obsession after ignoring her music for years Blush ). The point is, four CD's and some Lego, I could understand if the Lego or CD's would take longer - however it states I'm due to receive the Lego and one CD tomorrow, and the other three on Friday.

The point I'm trying to make is that the CD's must all be kept in similar places, especially as they're all the same artist, I'm confused as to why they've split delivery and since when Amazon has changed from next day to two day delivery? Is anyone else experiencing this too?

YANBU. It’s become a thing recently that next day means within 48 hours, maybe, even if you order in the morning.

P!nk is great.

WillLokireturn · 30/10/2019 11:46

Prime often does two day delivery now, some items arrive within a day.

HeyitsPorscha · 30/10/2019 11:48

I couldnt agree more!! One prime item took 3 days last week. It's not right that they can say they are prime items when they take that long!

Worriedmum1511 · 30/10/2019 11:50

I always find it states clearly when delivery will be. Some have earlier cut offs than others or aren't as easily available however I have never ordered and it not arrive when it said it will

evilkitten · 30/10/2019 12:01

This doesn't really address your question, but your assumption that all CDs are kept together is wrong. Amazon deliberately split up similar products. It means that when the picker goes to the location for your item, then the pick up the CD and not the garden trowel set or wheel nuts. If there was a rack of different CDs, it's far easier to make mistakes.

I post that just as a bit of trivia, not in a 'you're wrong' way.

OverthinkingThis · 30/10/2019 12:02

It shows a delivery date against each item when you order. If it comes later than that, email them and you often get an extra month of prime for free ( I got 3 in total last year). If it's just that their estimates are no longer next day, yes it's crap but not much you can do apart from vote with your feet.

the CD's must all be kept in similar places, especially as they're all the same artist

Not necessarily, the mind boggles when it comes to Amazon's warehousing!

JacquesHammer · 30/10/2019 12:04

What is even more infuriating is you check out when it clearly states "delivery tomorrow", then check your order once you've paid and the delivery date as miraculously turned into a later date.

I'm onto month 5 of free Prime now for complaing each time!

Cuddling57 · 30/10/2019 12:09

Ah that explains why I was confused a week ago. Also it changes depending on delivery address.

Bofster37 · 30/10/2019 12:10

Meanwhile, Prime has just started offering same day delivery in our area!

Ah-may-zing

StinkGhoul · 30/10/2019 12:14

Did you look at the delivery date on each item? Mostly I find they follow those but occasionally not.

BusterTheBulldog · 30/10/2019 12:20

I’m also having the same issue and always check delivery date, will be claiming my free months from now on!

Pemba · 30/10/2019 12:21

Yes Prime has definitely deteriorated the last couple of years. At one time everything marked Prime was next day delivery, no longer the case. They also used to give you a digital credit if you excepted slower delivery on an item. I used to accumulate loads and use them for buying Kindle books, very useful. Then that was removed too.

So I cancelled in the summer. Don't miss it much really. If I need something urgently I get my daughter to order it on her account and pay her back (she's at a different address). What is also annoying is that their standard non - Prime delivery now requires you to order £20 worth of stuff. But does that mean that you then get next day delivery? Nope, its normally about a week. Obviously they couldn't care less about second class non-Prime customers. So now for smaller items I'll normally look elsewhere and have spent far less at Amazon than I used to over the last few months. Kind of shot themselves in the foot with that one!

3girlsandapooch · 30/10/2019 12:21

I've found this happening
a lot quite recently, definitely states next day when I check out but is taking a few days to arrive, always fobbed off with "delay at the warehouse" or some other excuse!!

Beautiful3 · 30/10/2019 12:23

Normally takes 1-2 days with prime delivery. Without takes 5-7 days. So definitely quicker with prime. If you check the delivery dates before you pay, it usually tells you an accurate date of delivery.

sugar88 · 30/10/2019 12:25

I imagine Amazon warehouses aren't as simple as "the CDs must all be kept in similar places", but YANBU for wanting them to keep to a delivery service you're paying for.

I remember Amazon were being investigated for their one day delivery prime claims, not sure what came of it though

Foggycad · 30/10/2019 12:30

YANBU.

I ordered a parcel on Monday with Prime to be delivered on Tuesday. It was a no-show yesterday and now I've looked on my orders it states it'll be arriving on November 5th Angry

This has happened multiple times in the last 3 months. I've now cancelled Prime.

Pile of shit.

OneForMeToo · 30/10/2019 12:32

It seems to vary on the items location. I get some things same day, other next and others 2/3days. I do live a stone throw away from one of the warehouses and the mind boggles that items in my local warehouse can take longer to arrive than items in a warehouse further away 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Also we have some items arrive prime via Royal Mail, some in a amazon prime van and some in a random white van. It makes no sense.

catflapuk · 30/10/2019 12:38

Well, it's a rip off. I don't have prime and my Amazon deliveries usually take 1-3 days on the free delivery option. They have become much faster over the past year or so. Not even sure there is a difference to Prime anymore. If I need sth pronto I can still pay extra delivery charge as a one off.

They take you for fools.

Itsallpetetong · 30/10/2019 12:53

I order 3 items last week. In the order details it said 2 items would arrive Thursday, 1 item would arrive Friday.
They were all actually delivered on the thursday.

MarshaBradyo · 30/10/2019 12:54

So slow without Prime. I don’t mind 1 to 2 days.

CornishMaid1 · 30/10/2019 13:05

I do tend to find they stick to the times they show when I go to checkout, except in very busy times (black Friday etc). Only rarely have the times been any different or there been any delay for me.

I think some of their music and entertainment are in different warehouses though - I have ordered before and had some music/DVDs arrive the next day from this country and some a day or two later from another depot (from memory I think it may have been Jersey or somewhere else offshore).

BlueNeighbourhood · 30/10/2019 13:13

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this one.

They're all coming from Amazon S.a.r.L which I assume is the same place and all said they were available for delivery tomorrow (Thursday). Yet when I proceeded to checkout it said it would be two separate packages, one on Thursday, one on Friday. I don't understand why it would delay like that and what differs to make some items take one day, and some take two, especially when they are similar items.

I've noticed quite a few times it sort of hooks you in, saying delivery tomorrow if you order within x amount of time, but then when you actually order it changes to the following day.

OP posts:
BlueNeighbourhood · 30/10/2019 13:14

As an update, I've just checked again. Four out of five items are arriving tomorrow now, and the final CD is arriving on Friday. Strange.

OP posts:
BlueNeighbourhood · 30/10/2019 13:23

Oh, now they're all being delivered tomorrow by the look of it, in three separate packages. One thing I'll never understand is how Amazon delivery works!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 30/10/2019 13:27

YAdefinitelt NBU! Next day is becoming increasingly rare. What I object to is the dishonesty, it will say buy it in next 4 hours for next day, then once you purchase, you look at the status of your order and it will be 2 days + or worse, say it's coming next day and turn up 3 days later!!

Despite experience of previous posters I have never received Prime extension after complaining I think it is all very dishonest.

Two companies I have been pleasantly suprised by recently are Argos and Next. With Next I ordered my mum a dress literally in the evening last couple of minutes before delivery shut off time. I expected 2 days or evening delivery next day max. But it arrived 10:00am next morning!

Argos, I have ordered bookshelves and chairs for same day. Arrived in hours, not liked one of the chairs, and they have come and picked it up same day it arrived in the evening.

So these days I diversify and often check delivery times elsewhere first.
