To expect an Amazon Prime order to arrive the next day?

Just that really. As far as I was concerned, I pay however much per month to ensure that when I order a Prime item before the cut off point - I will receive the item the next day.

I ordered a Lego Architecture set and basically Pink's back catalogue of CD's (a recent obsession after ignoring her music for years Blush ). The point is, four CD's and some Lego, I could understand if the Lego or CD's would take longer - however it states I'm due to receive the Lego and one CD tomorrow, and the other three on Friday.

The point I'm trying to make is that the CD's must all be kept in similar places, especially as they're all the same artist, I'm confused as to why they've split delivery and since when Amazon has changed from next day to two day delivery? Is anyone else experiencing this too?

What is even more infuriating is you check out when it clearly states "delivery tomorrow", then check your order once you've paid and the delivery date as miraculously turned into a later date.

This, they sneakily change the date but they don’t notify you.. you only find out when it
hasn’t turned up!

I remember back in Summer I ordered an album I'd been waiting for a while to be released. It was one of the deluxe editions and I'd preordered so I'd have it the day it came out. That was the guarantee on their website.

In the end it didn't get delivered until five days later, inexplicably because it was 'held up'. I received a £5 voucher in compensation from them, I didn't ask for it they just said here you go. Fortunately I have Apple Music but that's not the point. I pay for premium delivery and right now I'm not getting it.

I agree they are sneaky about delivery, it is all a cost-cutting exercise for them I would guess.

But then Prime isn't all about the delivery I suppose, many people get it for the TV, films and music you can access as a Prime member. They shouldn't make delivery promises they can't keep though!

OneForMeToo · 30/10/2019 17:06

That’s reminding me I wanted some razors. One off purchase next day, subscribe and save 8days!! Crazy.

Sarl has nothing to do with actual location just that it’s sold and dispatched by amazon.

PositiveVibez · 30/10/2019 17:07

We got fed up of prime and cancelled. In my experience, items just come as quickly when not ordered on Prime.

CarlaH · 30/10/2019 17:16

I have a feeling that Prime items are often more expensive as well.

KatieB55 · 30/10/2019 17:33

I have found this too - def says next day for delivery but after checkout the date changes. It's really annoying.

ActualHornist · 30/10/2019 17:34

If you move closer to a distribution site you can get your stuff on the same day Wink

Not helpful - I agree with you. I watched 3 episodes of Mr Mercedes on prime the other day, only to find that amazon apparently own a bunch of ‘channels’ that you have to pay extra for! Not to mention if you purchase a digital film and then amazon lose the rights to it that’s too bad for you. There won’t even record of it on your purchase history.

Nicketynac · 30/10/2019 17:38

Complain every time. As PP says they will refund a month of Prime and if you complain again (it happens to me with almost every order) then you get money credited to your Amazon account.

Wizzbangpop · 30/10/2019 17:42

Think it depends where you live, what you ordered and at what time

London midday and a bubble bath
Is different to deepest darkest Highlands at 5:30pm and bubble bath ime

Lulualla · 30/10/2019 17:42

I've had a mix. Most still come the next day but in the last 2 weeks, I've had several things come as "same day delivery" and I live in the country in Scotland so couldn't believe it! I ordered in the morning and they were at my door by 9pm. And a few things have been 2 day delivery... But I'm not going to get all mad about it.

SleepingSoul · 30/10/2019 17:45

I complained to them about this They're time ago. It seems they moved the goalposts a while back, it used to be delivery next day after order, then they quietly changed changed it to next day after dispatch., which isn't necessarily the same day as the order. I have friends who've had days or months added to their Prime but I've only got the above explanation from them. I keep it more for the T.V./books and keep a close eye on dates when ordering products.

coconuttelegraph · 30/10/2019 17:50

That's just commerce, surely you check for the best overall deal, did they ever say Prime would always be cheapest?
This is so true for me, I don't order much and not particularly fussed about getting things the next day although I always do but overall it's excellent value imo for what's available

MimosasAllRound · 30/10/2019 17:59

They're all coming from Amazon S.a.r.L which I assume is the same place and all said they were available for delivery tomorrow (Thursday).

Amazon SARL is French Amazon - Société à Responsabilité Limitée. Are they coming from France?

LittlePickleHead · 30/10/2019 18:07

Yep I've found 'Prime' items becoming less and less reliable. Specifically ordered a next day delivery present for my godsons birthday to arrive today - got an email about 4pm saying 'sorry it won't be delivered today, if it hasn't arrived by Saturday contact us again' AngryAngryAngry

What's the bloody point?

Garfieldsarm · 30/10/2019 19:21

The magic email confirmation with the changing date irritates me the most as it literally gaslights you into thinking you must have been mistaken.

Also I hate that you now have to use their online chat or phone to complain. It takes forever as opposed to just hammering out an email.

Junkmail · 30/10/2019 19:27

I think it must depend highly on area because I never have a problem with prime. I think one time I got an email to say that my delivery would be later than expected by one day. I’m also not sure what a pp meant by having to order £20 of stuff—I made an order for an item costing £6 last night and received it today. I feel like over the past couple of years that it’s got better with more stuff available on prime than before. And I use it A LOT. like a shameful amount Blush It could just be where you live OP? Might be worth looking at if it’s worth keeping it for your particular location?

Auba14 · 30/10/2019 20:28

I’ve ordered some things that have again been split up. Into two lots, one lot being delivered by Amazon Logistics and the other by Royal Mail. They must end up paying so much more in postage by doing items separately!

It happens all the time, I’m going to follow the advice and complain every single time it happens now.

saraclara · 30/10/2019 20:35

You know that there's not just one Amazon warehouse, yes? they're scattered around the country, and it's likely that no one warehouse stocks all five items that you ordered.

Likewise @Auba14, your two items probably came from two different places, hence different delivery services.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 31/10/2019 05:03

Think it depends where you live, what you ordered and at what time

Don't live in Highlands. London. What's their excuse?

TulipCat · 31/10/2019 05:18

Does it really matter? I never pay extra money for next day delivery because I never "need" anything that urgently!

Sarcelle · 31/10/2019 05:56

I have Prime, think it is excellent. I often order in the morning so that it comes in the evening. I can only think of a couple of occasions when it was meant to arrive on one day, but was pushed back to the next day. I use Amazon a lot, so does my DH.

JoanBonJovi · 31/10/2019 06:04

Lol at buying CDs

Rubyupbeat · 31/10/2019 06:07

I've never had a problem with prime, been a member since the start.
Most items delivered within 24 hours, the rest same day, which I find amazing.
Prime doesnt always mean next day delivery, but always means free delivery.
Have you not thought it may be the courier or delivery guy who is not getting the parcels to you?

Timeless19 · 31/10/2019 06:13

I cancelled after looking for “prime” cleaning cloths first thing in the morning and absolutely none of them were available for next day delivery. It was a Friday so not like we don’t get post on a Saturday.

Like others I’m now shopping elsewhere and saving money. Without the convenience off next day delivery amazon rapidly loses its appeal.
