To expect an Amazon Prime order to arrive the next day?

Just that really. As far as I was concerned, I pay however much per month to ensure that when I order a Prime item before the cut off point - I will receive the item the next day.

I ordered a Lego Architecture set and basically Pink's back catalogue of CD's (a recent obsession after ignoring her music for years Blush ). The point is, four CD's and some Lego, I could understand if the Lego or CD's would take longer - however it states I'm due to receive the Lego and one CD tomorrow, and the other three on Friday.

The point I'm trying to make is that the CD's must all be kept in similar places, especially as they're all the same artist, I'm confused as to why they've split delivery and since when Amazon has changed from next day to two day delivery? Is anyone else experiencing this too?

Likewise @Auba14, your two items probably came from two different places, hence different delivery services

It’s true. They’re based on size, so if item one fits in a small box (say a book) and item two fits in a big box (say a vacuum) they’ll be delivered separately because they are based at different distribution centres. Same with alcohol.

And if you say you want it all in one box, they will take the book and drive it to the vacuum and then post them separately.

  • post them together Grin

One reason I cancelled my prime plus most price items are more expensive now.

chippychip1 · 31/10/2019 06:22

prime not price!

coconuttelegraph · 31/10/2019 07:04

Like others I’m now shopping elsewhere and saving money. Without the convenience off next day delivery amazon rapidly loses its appeal

You know that buying from Amazon isn't compulsory, right? Why would you ever have used it if it was more e,pensive?

Roselilly36 · 31/10/2019 07:10

I agree Prime isn’t what it used to be, I am amazed if I get the item ordered the next day.

SleepyKat · 31/10/2019 07:15

I order from amazon 2 or 3 times a week and it comes the next day 99.9% of the time.

FairfaxAikman · 31/10/2019 07:24

They are getting worse and aren't always clear when it will be longer.

I ordered a pumpkin carving kit four days before Halloween. I got a message on Tuesday saying it would be delivered November 5!

TheQueef · 31/10/2019 07:27

It has deteriorated.
The 8 stops away is handy though.
I wish they didn't do the random delivery of s&s though, all that cardboard!
Luckily we have real fire so it comes in handy for lighting and carrying coal.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 31/10/2019 07:30

If you live in a city, you could go to your local high street and get same day delivery, right into your hands!

Yes, I agree delivery is irritating, but amazon have rather got us all by the short and curries now, haven't they? As competition from elsewhere gets less and less, they can get shitter and more expensive and we all just put up with it, cos the shops closed down 🤷🏼‍♀️

PrincessRaven · 31/10/2019 07:38

What is even more infuriating is you check out when it clearly states "delivery tomorrow", then check your order once you've paid and the delivery date as miraculously turned into a later date.

This!!

If you live in a city, you could go to your local high street and get same day delivery, right into your hands!
How is that delivery?? Hmm
And if you dont live in a city?

CookieDoughKid · 31/10/2019 07:42

I'm more worried about the working conditions and low salaries in order to serve Prime customers.

Indecisivelurcher · 31/10/2019 07:53

I cancelled prime recently and don't miss it, everything I've ordered since has had a free delivery on 2 days option, but you have to change the automatically selected paid postage option at the end.

Moondancer73 · 31/10/2019 08:47

I've had this recently too. It's something I find very poor service when you pay for prime so that your goods arrive next day then get an email saying they've been 'held up'. My last email said 'if it doesn't arrive by Friday get in touch' - that was Tuesday! I was fuming.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 31/10/2019 08:53

Well I mean @PrincessRaven, obviously by 'delivery' I meant 'ye old fashioned face to face purchase'. 🙄

I mentioned city, because quite obviously, if you don't live in a city, you can't just pop down to hmv. It's harder. That's why I mentioned it.....

LemonRedwood · 31/10/2019 09:01

you can't just pop down to hmv

Don't think anyone can do that any more to be fair Grin

CactusAndCacti · 31/10/2019 09:07

This,

BlueNeighbourhood · 31/10/2019 09:54

Lol at buying CDs

I mean yeah, that's helpful. So what? I have a brand new car and can play music through Apple Music, but sometimes, just sometimes I like to have physical CD's.

Thank you all for your explanations, it's a lot more complicated than I initially thought! The most frustrating part is the delivery day changing upon ordering, sometimes I need that item next day hence having Prime. If they communicated that instead of sneaking it into T&C's, it'd be a lot better.

missbattenburg · 31/10/2019 09:58

I don't so much mind if it doesn't arrive the next day, it's the insistence on using their own delivery drivers who can show up on Sundays and anytime up until 9pm that pisses me off and now has me shopping elsewhere.

I have very important things to do in the evening (sitting around with the dogs in my pyjamas) and I don't want the bloody doorbell going at ten to nine at night!

TheQueef · 31/10/2019 10:39

Blue complain via email to customer service.
I get a tenner every time I have a winge.

BlueNeighbourhood · 31/10/2019 11:51

All items inexplicably arrived this morning. One from Royal Mail, four from Amazon Logistics - four items in one box instead of two boxes of two as they originally stated. It is all very strange.

It's almost as if Amazon are 'estimating' that an item may be late and preparing you for that, then delivering next day and this looks like they've gone above and beyond.

I did speak to CS and asked for their Prime policy, they apologised for being messed around, gave me a £5 credit and that's the end of it. Hopefully things will improve!

TheQueef · 31/10/2019 13:25

Got to say I'm always satisfied with their customer service.
I'm pretty much homebound at the mo , I use them a lot.

JoanBonJovi · 31/10/2019 14:34

You can play the cds in your Walkman. Or something.

Moondancer73 · 05/11/2019 14:20

I've now had two amazon orders arrive late within three weeks. I made a point of complaining via live chat - which was like pulling teeth - and did finally get given a five pound voucher but that's really not the point. I pay for prime so that I can get things next day - waiting three days defeats the object and just annoys me.
