to ask if anyone has successfully treated their severe depression with novel therapies (not antidepressants)?

Asking here as more traffic rather than mental health.

I have been severely depressed all my life but it is crippling at the moment. I have tried so many things including most conventional anti-depressants offered by the NHS, psychiatry, CBT, other forms of talk therapy and nothing has helped.

I was thinking of trying hypnosis to see if this could help at all. Anyone who has successfully got rid of severe depression using alternative methods or novel therapies, what was it and how long did it take etc?

Following with interest!
Do you exercise? Yoga?

Cuddling, no I don't. I don't think yoga would touch my depression though. It's really crippling and I feel constantly anxious as well. Life is no fun at the moment.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling at the moment, I don’t have any advice but am working on adding exercise to my life as I am hoping it will help (currently on anti depressants and cbt).

For me, going gluten free and dairy free and cutting out caffeine and cutting down on sugar. Food really has been the cornerstone for me feeling well. Gluten can have a massive impact on mental health. Read Brain Drain - lots of info on internet.
Good probiotic.
Exercise.
Had my hormones/adrenals/cortisol tested privately - found out I was estrogen dominant which had had a massive affect on my mental/physical health. Private does cost but saved my sanity.
Take note of your breathing/thoughts.
EMDR was helpful.
Good luck.
