Loved the why do you obey laws thread so...

Actually- I’ve got one about MPs. No MP should be appointed to the Cabinet if they use private schools or private medicine. I’d like to extend that to all MPs, but it would mean we would lose some good constituency MPs...

Raise the age of consent to 18 for everyone and make it illegal for anyone over 25 to have intimate relationships with any 18 and 19 year olds

Blimey! I had a very nice snog with a 26 year old when I was 19 which I have extremely fond memories of. It didn't go anywhere because he ended up going out with someone else instead. I think it's fine to go out with whom you want when you are an adult.

I would:

Make the personal use of fireworks illegal, organised displays only

Dogs to be on short leads in all public places

Driving offences to carry stiffer sentences

Non-violent crimes to be dealt with by non-custodial sentences

Legalise euthanasia in certain circumstances and with very strict criteria yes

Minimum wage to apply to all, it's the same work however old you are.

Ban pavement parking on most roads and make it more obvious through road markings that pedestrians have priority when crossing side roads cars want to turn into

Merge NI and tax and simplify the tax system generally.

Scrap HS2 and spend money on upgrading existing network instead

I would also pass a law to say that people cannot be named until they have been found guilty of an offence (yes for sex crimes too, innocent until proven guilty, not guilty by being mentioned in the media)

And I would remove the period for unfair dismissal entirely. You can sack someone on day one, but you need to have a good reason in my view.

A few controversial ones there for you to get stuck into!

Having read a few of these, I think some of you might need to visit a prison if you think it's cushy...

what does wind me up is people who have never worked, have no intention of ever working or contributing to society and just have more and more children to get the bigger houses and get more money

I genuinely don't think this happens except in a very very few cases. Have you ever signed on for job-seeker benefits? It's a demeaning, horrible process. Nobody chooses it.

Oo on MP’s:

Agree with Kazzys law on proven links to the community they’re representing. Love Bertrand’s law on disallowing them from using private education and healthcare too.

I’d also (have said these many times before on relevant threads) make wannabe mps live 6 months in social housing on minimum welfare benefit level of income.

I’d also ban mps from having positions/roles which represent a conflict of interests (supposed to be the case now but too many loopholes) I’m thinking particularly of the fact a large number of MP’s currently are landlords and property developers who frequently vote against improving conditions and rights for tenants and owner/occupiers and against any measures (like bloody building more social housing) that would reduce housing prices. It’s blatant bias and shouldn’t be allowed.
