Loved the why do you obey laws thread so...

I'd like the law, changed on if a child, or vulnerable person dies and all present stay silent, then they all get charged with manslaughter through neglect.

I'd like more charges against moderately abusive parents.

I'd like extended animal cruelty sentences and it to include farm animals.

I don't think our driving sentences are enough.

misspiggy19 · 29/10/2019 20:05

If someone is convicted of murder in the absence of a body they can’t be released until they say where the body is.

DNR · 29/10/2019 20:12

There's two I never even knew!

I would like greater efforts to enforce a number of existing laws before making any new ones. Driving laws is one (I see people using their phones whilst driving every single day) , illegal car number plates another I see every day. Enforcement of various employment laws would be another.

DNR · 29/10/2019 20:23

Hinge and bracket - good point

I'd reform the drug laws with a focus on harm reduction and stopping money going to gangs etc..

Glera · 29/10/2019 20:29

Assisted suicide/right to end life in certain circumstances should be legal (but very closely monitored).

NC4this123 · 29/10/2019 20:30

Oh god I’m gonna get flamed 🤭 I would like all meat eating illegal unless they died of natural causes/road kill 🤭 I know most wont agree but that’s genuinely how I feel and would enforce it if I could.

NC4this123 · 29/10/2019 20:31

@Glera after working in a care home... 100% agree with that.

HotSauceCommittee · 29/10/2019 20:33

The Tax laws need an overhaul. They have been in place for over 100 years without change, globalisation has happened on a massive scale and society is not benefiting from revenue from this, allowing large corporations to get away with paying minimal amounts.
A controversial one, but those who allow abusive partners back into a family home with children in it where there is a restraining order/bail conditions on the offender, should be charged with child cruelty and neglect. Ditto for exposing the children to multiple “domestic incidents” of such severity that the police are called.

Hingeandbracket · 29/10/2019 20:34

@NC4this123 I won't flame you for your views - but take a look at how prohibition of alcohol ended up in the USA - prohibiting meat would go the same way.

Hingeandbracket · 29/10/2019 20:35

@HotSauceCommittee You are 100% right about tax.

Fizzypoo · 29/10/2019 20:37

Ring fenced funding for youth services.

Bringing sure start centres back.

Supermarkets being more responsible and held to account for their packaging.

Yorkshireteapot · 29/10/2019 20:39

Tighter laws around flexible working, employment tribunals and discrimination; 54,000 women are forced to leave their jobs each year in the UK after having children.

Theendofmyrope · 29/10/2019 20:40

Strengthen the hunting act

slipperywhensparticus · 29/10/2019 20:44

Child support laws should be stricter no was should any parent dodge paying

Willyoujustbequiet · 29/10/2019 20:45

Imprisonment for deadbeat parents who don't pay child support

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/10/2019 20:45

Hate crime law is a joke. If an actual crime is committed against someone then it should be punished according to said crime, not on the opinions or feelings of someone who may be simply offended on the victim's behalf.
Massive rise in hate crime is dodgy stats and daft things like mis-gendering someone being reported as a crime.

DNR · 29/10/2019 20:46

Really uncomfortable my dog could be in trouble if he attacked an intruder. He loves people normally but think he could attack a burglar. What do I do? Leave treats out for burglars to feed my dog? It would probably save his life. So wrong though

OP posts:
DNR · 29/10/2019 20:47

Glera, my initial feeling is that too. Probably warrants a lot of debate.

Crimes to be reported by sex not gender they can change the paperwork to read born male identifies as female seriously is it really an issue if your keeping your dick anyway

CremeEggThief · 29/10/2019 20:48

Driving laws toughened up, especially longer sentences for causing death/injury by careless/dangerous driving. I'd also raise the driving age to 21!

Tougher sentences for animal cruelty and more monitoring of people banned from keeping animals for longer periods/life.

Much higher standards for animal welfare.

Stricter regulations properly enforced for child maintenance. No more NRPs getting away with paying little or no child support. Angry

Abolish UC and replace with a citizens' wage.

I'm not sure how to implement this, but scrap zero hours contracts for most workers, and only offer them to the few people who want to work in this way and fully understand the implications; e.g. students; semi-retired people etc.

Legalise drugs.

Legalise euthanasia in certain circumstances and with very strict criteria.

More regulations and laws that are kinder to the environment.

Raise the age of consent to 18 for everyone and make it illegal for anyone over 25 to have intimate relationships with any 18 and 19 year olds.

NC4this123 · 29/10/2019 20:49

@Hingeandbracket valid point, just thinking in an ideal world .... 😂

Interestedwoman · 29/10/2019 20:53

I hate to agree with Corbyn on anything, but that young people don't get the Living Wage like everyone else. It's age descrimination.

Also that people with disablitiies who are unable to work are unable to work are immediately disregarded by prospective landlords. It's disability discrimination, the same as 'no blacks, no Irish' etc.

Lemonnhoney · 29/10/2019 20:56

Legalise cannabis.. and potentionally decriminalise other drugs
