Loved the why do you obey laws thread so...

Abortion, it's technically still illegal except....etc, it shouldn't be illegal at all.

Make cyclists wear helmets

Willyoujustbequiet · 29/10/2019 20:58

Make misogyny/abuse of women a hate crime akin to racism.

orangeteal · 29/10/2019 20:59

(Well sorry when I say AT ALL I don't mean at anytime, still with the current limits but I mean the wording of the legislation)

kristallen · 29/10/2019 21:02

Make misogyny/abuse of women a hate crime akin to racism.

Exactly what I was going to say.

As a vegetarian of many years I don't want to ban meat , I think everyone has the right to choose .

BUT:

Farms that bred animals for the meat trade should not be permitted to transport them. They would have to be slaughtered on site , either their own abbatoir if its a big enough farm or mobile ones.
And slaughterers must be trained, skilled, compassionate and respectful.

And meat should not be packaged in anonymous little trays . They would be this is a piece of lamb/sheep/pig and a photographic image so people can recognise that it is a sentient being and they are choosing to.

Glass walled abbatoirs might help too.............

I would support a Right to Die movement after watching both my lovely Dad and MIL die of cancer. Without going into unnecessary and upsetting details about what I saw, it was so incredibly distressing, even though they were medicated and looked after by medical staff. It is bizarre to me that we don’t let animals suffer, but we make people endure truly horrible illnesses until their body can physically take no more.
Of course it would need to be monitored carefully, but the current way of doing things needs to change.

Mickhasnotorso · 29/10/2019 21:06

If you've paid rent payments on time for x amount of years then you should be eligible for a 100% mortgage (if you meet the affordability criteria, of course)

Leafyhouse · 29/10/2019 21:06

Three day week. Why the hell do we all work 5 days on, 2 days off when actually we could manufacture everything we need from a 4+3 week? Shouldn't the technological revolution afford us all more leisure time?

ParkheadParadise · 29/10/2019 21:06

I would get rid of the NOT PROVEN VERDICT In Scottish courts.

DNR · 29/10/2019 21:06

Do love that a family got taken to court because the mum stabbed a burglar. Burglar had threatened to cut her son's fingers off if they didn't tell him where the safe was. They didn't have a safe so she pounced on the knife block, grabbed one and nearly murdered the burglar. Luckily local papers and judge were very sympathetic. Shitty there was any possibility of her being in trouble for that.

I’d make smacking children illegal and make emotional abuse just a punishable as physical abuse.

Change child support laws so any parent not financially supporting a child themselves would have harsh consequences.

Abolish the lower min wage bracket for young people so they earn the same as others for the same job.

Piercing for under 18s illegal.

DNR · 29/10/2019 21:10

Parkhead Paradise, I can Google it if you cant be a to give the gist, but what is it, roughly?

OP posts:
ParkheadParadise · 29/10/2019 21:17

@DNR
In Scottish courts you have 3 options
Guilty
Not Guilty
Not Proven

Not proven means, we know you are guilty but we can't prove it.
I watched the evil bastard who murdered my Dd walk free on a NOT PROVEN verdict.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/10/2019 21:19

Driving with alcohol in your system should always carry a custodial sentence . If over an agreed limit then a custodial+ Life Ban.
You might as well go out with a loaded gun. FFS

FedUpMum40 · 29/10/2019 21:26

Stop giving murdering scum a new lease of life by giving them a new identity after savagely taking a life(s) bring back hard labour for them for 10 years then hang them

Justanotherlurker · 29/10/2019 21:27

I hate to agree with Corbyn on anything, but that young people don't get the Living Wage like everyone else. It's age descrimination.

Well there is the case of it being a one way street to rampant inflation for a start, this giving hand outs whilst ignoring globalised economics is a can kicking excersise as why 100%+ mortgages was introduced.

One law I would pass is a basic is basic economics and basic understanding of globalisation should be taught in schools

DNR · 29/10/2019 21:29

ParkheadParadise, I'm so sorry. That should never happen.

Prosecuting parents of children school refusing for mental health issues.

Glera · 29/10/2019 21:31

No idea how it would be managed but it should be law that anyone of age has to vote. Even if the ballot paper had a section marked ‘undecided’ for people who genuinely aren’t sure, at least the act of voting has been carried out.

DNR · 29/10/2019 21:34

I'm ok with young people earning less IF they 're getting valuable training. Not if it's the exact same task whatever your age. I think that us ageist.

OP posts:
WoWsers16 · 29/10/2019 21:34

I don't understand why on earth wearing a helmet when riding a bike hasn't been made a law yet! That should be made compulsory!

I would love smoking to be banned everywhere - and if that's a bit too extreme make it so cigarettes are really expensive so if people are on benefits they can't spend the money on them. (Not as much a law- but just would want benefits to be better spent)

People who cause harm to children should be really punished -

Also prisons should have no game stations etc... it shouldn't be cushy! X

Ironfloor269 · 29/10/2019 21:42

Capital punishment for sex offenders and paedophiles.

TitianaTitsling · 29/10/2019 21:50

@WoWsers16ers absolutely re helmet and bikes- got stuck in long line of traffic today all behind a cyclist wobbling all over the road, no helmet and going up a hill into the morning sun, so no opportunity for a safe overtake- annoying thing there was a very expensive cycle path they could have been on running alongside this A road. If they had fallen into traffic it would have been catastrophic.

cfsdhffs · 29/10/2019 21:51

Drug laws need a rethink IMO. The “war on drugs” has never been won and the money funds awful things.

Justanotherlurker · 29/10/2019 21:54

Didn't expect anything other than a nebulous statement, this is why basic economics and an understanding of a globalised economy is my law, critical thinking is a by product of it.
