Jon Snow - Embarrassing to watch

Why is he still a presenter on Channel 4 News?

Not for the first time, he is stumbling through an interview this evening.

It is especially galling when women newsreaders are retired much earlier, not due to incompetence but due to looks. And to think that this is still happening in this day and age.

He does stumble a little over words at times but he's fantastic overall. I admit Guru-Murthy is my favourite now though. He's a brilliant interviewer and certainly not biased - he is tough on people of all parties and the evidence is easily available and very hard to argue against.

The investigative journalism on C4 is excellent - I just wish more people saw it. Justanotherlurker whose journalism do you admire currently?

Jon Snow has been good but now needs to be on light duties whether or not he counties to delight his fans with his colourful socks and ties.

As for Krishnan, he is very bombastic and often very rude and dismissive of those he plainly disagrees with. Some guests may warrant such behaviour but most often they do not.

Why can't newsreaders be impartial and treat their guests equally. Let us the viewers make up our own mind and not try to do it for us. There is a place for campaigning journalism but when these types of pieces are presented as factual impartial news items it grates.

The great John Pilger's shows were hugely impressive and it's a shame these standalone shows aren't done so much.

Colourful socks and ties withstanding.

I appreciate journalists who take the time to hold their interviewees to account. Regardless of their own view or the colour of their socks!

I'm pissed off and tired with the likes of Laura K, who seems to think that keeping in with her sources is more important than scrutinising what they say.

I know plenty of people on tele' who are embarrassing to watch. He is not one of them.

His political beliefs colour everything he says. Fine if that’s what you want to listen to.

But there isn’t much impartiality these days.

Justanotherlurker what does "woke become broke" mean ? I seriously have no idea what that phrase means.

I like JS and also KGM on C4. Also, I stood next to Jon Snow once at a Vermeer exhibition and he smiled at me. I felt like there was a momentary artistic meeting of the minds, if you will.

He introduced Jo Swinson as the leader of the Labour Party/SNP (can’t remember which) on C4 news the other day - and had to apologise profusely when she swiftly corrected him! I enjoy watching him though - he’s human and overall I think he’s really good at what he does.

I don’t get the dislike for Laura K from some people on here either - I think she’s good.

I like him at 72 you can expect a few slips .His easily understood no pretence when he slips it’s a slight distraction but dont we all.
Why do you want him sacked what’s in it for you.

Someone was talking about the other Jon Snow here once, having never watched or had any interest in Game of Thrones, I thought they were on about C4 news and was waxing lyrical of his journalistic skills!

Anyway I love Jon Snow. I think he can make interviewees look and feel awkward and stupid when they have unfair views. I won't hear a word against him.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy is brilliant. Why shouldn't politicians be held to account?

I like him a lot. Also love KGM. They’re both proper journalists who hold politicians to account. Cannot stand LK. I’m convinced she’s in the pay of the Tory party! She also simpers when she talks about/ interviews Boris Johnson Hmm

I didn't get the hate for LK for a long time. Then I started listening to her more carefully and also started coming across more of her tweets.

She seems to uncritically repeat what she's been told by "Downing Street sources" and is turning into a mouthpiece for Dominic Cummings.

A friend of mine was talking about how hot he thought Jon Snow was. My face was Hmm (friend was 30 at the time). He went on to say how he would love it if JS to took him in his arms and carried him down to a cave and have wild sex together and then got more elaborate. My face turned to Shock.

Yes, he was talking about GOT JS and I was thinking of C4 JS.

I think all of the mainstream news journalists are awful. Andrew Neil, Zeinab Badawi and Jo Coburn are the only ones I have any time for. They are all experienced, very intelligent, older and capable of keeping their personal bias in check most of the time.

The others are incapable. I think LK is very intelligent but she sounds too much like a mouthpiece for her friends in Downing Street.

John Snow is not 'incompetent' he's a man of older years whose experience is still highly relevant. I don't love him necessarily, but I do not get the ageism. I think he's earned the right to stumble a couple of times.

He was given a gong (OBE?) some years back; he not only politely refused but made an investigative documentary about how these things are decided.
