Ah! So computer might work but not the bit where the image is displayed? I do have another larger screen that I regularly hook it up to. Thanks!

Yeah at least that way you can assess the damage and check whether other hardware it's still working

It looks like screen damage, or possibly a damaged connection to the screen but it would be a shame to repair that to find out its incurred other damage

I've bought my laptop in in a plastic bag because it was broken into so many pieces. They were able to fix it, (and fix many drops since) but it's more of a Theseus' laptop now, there's probably so little left of the original.

Yours looks like just the monitor needs replacing.

New screen needed

You should be able to replace the screen but depending on the age/cost of the laptop it might be cheaper and easier to just buy a new one!
