Weve decided we would like to buy a dyson hoover in the black Friday sales currently its £499 im wondering if anybody has any experience of Dyson and Black Friday? And whether theres much of a saving?
Tempted to just take the plunge.
(whilst trying to ignore how much of a leaver he is!!)

We've never owned a dyson before - the model were looking at is down from £599 to £499 at the moment so we're debating just taking the plunge as it already has money off but then I am the sort who would really kick myself if it was to drop down a fair bit on Black Friday.

Dysons - shit, unethical owner, employees treated terribly.

nobodyimportant · 26/10/2019 23:09

Don't do it. Waste of money. I will never buy another Dyson (and not because of Brexit though his behaviour there disgusts me). We have bought several over the years and every one of them has been rubbish but for some reason, we kept getting sucked in (excuse the pun) to buying another one. We now have a Shark and I love it. Not only is it a very effective vacuum, but it is also so easy to use. Everything clicks in and out of place easily with a satisfying clunk. With the Dyson, I always felt like I was forcing it and like the plastic might break.

LannisterLion1 · 26/10/2019 23:33

Love my dyson.

Have you checked the outlet store? We got a model which was exdemo with a big discount. Then got through a cashback site

Pumperthepumper · 27/10/2019 05:39

No one is being a dick about grammar. Or incorrect words. It is just a gentle pointer, because the wrong word alters the meaning. If we go on, and on, and on ignoring mistakes, it will be so much harder to get it right next time. The incorrect version will be perpetuated, which doesn't help anyone, writer or reader.

So why not private message instead of doing it publicly?

PleasantVille · 27/10/2019 06:56

Unless you're in dire need surely you wait and see what the prices are on that day. E ven if someone bought one last year how does that help you decide?

Incorrect use of language and politics aside I don't see how anyone can help you

SummerHouse · 27/10/2019 08:16

Just a polite reminder that if you pointed out the bought / brought thing, then you are a grammar dick. It is just a gentle pointer, because it's actually unnecessary. If we go on, and on, and on ignoring grammar dicks it will be so much harder to get it right next time. The grammar dick behaviour will be perpetuated, which doesn't help anyone, writer or reader.

homeworkery · 27/10/2019 08:21

@SummerHouse you don't need spaces at either side of that forward slash. Hth

LellyMcKelly · 27/10/2019 08:28

My Shark was a game changer. Far superior to the Dyson.

SummerHouse · 27/10/2019 08:39

Well played @homeworkery

That is actually really helpful to know. Thank you Smile. Not sure where I stand now as you have just disproved my point. I will think of you as grammar helpers not grammar dicks.

homeworkery · 27/10/2019 09:06

Haha, you're welcome Grin

PleasantVille · 27/10/2019 09:38

Speak for yourself, this reader finds it certainly aids understanding when posters use the correct words , that must be true for the majority surely.

The comments here aren't about grammar but it's obvious that too can change the meaning of posts if used wrongly.

Have a pop at grammar nazis by all means but don't try and pretend it doesn't matter.

ZaraW · 27/10/2019 09:42

Which magazine voted the Henry hoover as their recommendation, Miele was a close second. Dyson was around number five.

RockinHippy · 27/10/2019 09:43

I disagree, it definitely makes you look like a dick, given that you have no way of knowing if it was simply autocorrect, or if it's ESL, or disability at play. Everyone understood the OP, there was absolutely no need to correct the error, other than to make yourself feel self important. It's a post, not a news article or novel 🙄

HappydaysArehere · 27/10/2019 09:46

I have had a Dyson and wouldn’t buy another. My Sebo is wonderful and still comes out top on Which’s list of best vacuum cleaners.

missmouse101 · 27/10/2019 09:46

Maybe the OP is glad to now know the difference between brought and bought? When you are communicating in public via the written word, it really does matter. We don't suddenly stop learning the instant we leave school.

GooseFeather · 27/10/2019 09:51

I hate my Dyson. It is shit. Just waiting for it to die so I can justify replacing it.

Nothing to do with politics. It is just shit.

@ZaraW no they didn't it was sebo on top closely followed by Dyson

RockinHippy · 27/10/2019 10:01

Miss much more likely that the OP already knows it & it's a typo 🙄

Thevacmat · 27/10/2019 10:02

@shelikesemwithamoustache did she ask your opinion no she asked what offers are on.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 27/10/2019 10:04

Imagine being so much a test you correct peoples SPAG online.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 27/10/2019 10:04

That was meant to be twat before you start 😂 autocorrect is a fun feature.

JeffJarrett · 27/10/2019 10:05

No no no.
Politics aside, we had a big Dyson, a cordless Dyson and a Shark and the Shark pisses all over both the Dysons, plus we could have bought 4 Sharks for the price of the Dysons.

Plus the Shark has lights so you can see all the muck. Pulls the carpet up it's so strong, my husband gets a sweat on doing the whole house 😂

Fantababy · 27/10/2019 10:06

We bought ours in a Black Friday sale a few years ago. It was an absolute game changer - I can't believe how much easier it made hoovering. I'm not sure I'd but one now, due to scumbag Dyson's politics, but it's far easier to make a stand when you've already got one.
