PH30B3 · 26/10/2019 18:25

Weve decided we would like to buy a dyson hoover in the black Friday sales currently its £499 im wondering if anybody has any experience of Dyson and Black Friday? And whether theres much of a saving?
Tempted to just take the plunge.
(whilst trying to ignore how much of a leaver he is!!)

I go through hoovers like hot dinners. I have had everything, including 3 different dysons. No idea why they all break in me. Also had Henry, vax, Electrolux, Miele, hoover etc. Had bagged and bagless, corded and cordless - the best I have ever had is my current one, a shark powerlift beast, I love it. Amazingly designed and suction way better than the last Dyson I had.

Jimjamjong · 26/10/2019 20:17

I bought a handheld Dyson 5 years ago and I am not really impressed. A plastic part broke within the first year. Fortunately it was under warranty so they sent us a new part but after about 2 years of light use it started to loose it's suction power and is a bit useless really. For the price I was expecting it to last a bit longer.

bobstersmum · 26/10/2019 20:21

I can't be arsed with politics, dysons are brill and the aftercare is top notch.

coconuttelegraph · 26/10/2019 20:22

Do the same things get reduced by the same amount every black friday? I didn't know you could find out in advance, I wait and see each year what the reductions are, am I missing a trick? How do you find out beforehand?

bestbefore · 26/10/2019 20:23

I did, few years ago, from them direct, def saved £££££

Unicornsbumhole · 26/10/2019 20:39

I splashed out on the V11 absolute after being solidly anti-dyson for years.
I would buy it again in a heartbeat, best bloody Hoover I've ever owned

LoadOfOldTosh · 26/10/2019 20:40

Another vote for Shark here. Far better than Dyson IME.

trendingsomewhere · 26/10/2019 20:46

I switched to shark (recommended on here) a few years ago after having had 3 dysons.....shark is much better in my opinion.

Tellmetruth4 · 26/10/2019 20:49

I can never understand people who ‘don’t do politics’ as though they live outside normal society where politics doesn’t impact them. There’s a young woman at work who said she couldn’t remember the name of our ‘President’ and thought it was a ‘he’ (UK and it was Theresa May at the time). A few of us corrected her whilst thinking she was taking the piss. She wasn’t. She said she wasn’t in to politics. Each to their own though.

Whether you like it or not Dyson involved himself very vocally in our politics. He could’ve kept his mouth shut but he didn’t and thus politics are involved when it comes to purchasing his products. He believes in the UK so much that he moved his factory to Asia after making a massive deal about Brexit and has scrapped lots of jobs in the UK.

That aside, even if you really don’t care about politics, there are cheaper and better alternatives.

Xiddling · 26/10/2019 20:51

I have a Dyson cordless. I thought it was brilliant when I first bought it, but after a few months of use, it’s become quite crap. The filter constantly gets blocked and I waste so much time trying to unblock it. Total rip off and I wouldn’t recommend it.

missmouse101 · 26/10/2019 20:52

Bought you mean? Brought means something else.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 26/10/2019 20:52

Yabu.

Ask in housekeeping or chat.

boughtnotbrought · 26/10/2019 20:52

No advice on buying a dyson, but hope my user name helps with the thread title

Pumperthepumper · 26/10/2019 20:58

For the people who are being dicks about grammar: please remember, outside of your own little bubble, there are people who do not have English as their first language, or who do not have the benefit of your top-notch education and may even have been raised in a situation where spelling and grammar fell by the wayside in a chaotic house and/or with non-supportive parents.

So we can see your grammar and spelling is exemplary, well done you! But pointing out, publicly (rather than, say, private messaging an OP to help them if you are really concerned about teaching them rather than shaming them) is the absolute height of cuntish behaviour.

Just to reiterate an earlier point: James Dyson doesn’t deserve a penny of our money.

Pumperthepumper · 26/10/2019 20:59

@boughtnotbrought see above 🖕

positivity123 · 26/10/2019 21:07

The V11 is absolutely brilliant. It's so easy to run around the house and the suction is excellent. The fact it is only £500 is great, I haven't seen it that cheap before, we paid full whack for ours but I still think it's worth it.

Redact · 26/10/2019 21:16

My previous 3 hoovers were dysons, as I thought they were the bees knees, however, after replacing the third one with a miele I would never buy a dyson again. The Miele is superior in every way.

heatingsoup · 26/10/2019 21:29

I love my elderly cordless stick Dyson, it's nearly six years old and I'm just about to spend £100 on a service and a new battery so it will come back like new!

londonrach · 26/10/2019 21:35

Have you ever had a dyson op. I have, its rubbish. I hate it. It was a gift from mil so cant get rid of it. My mums henry is good. When i kill it id like a henry or a shark...just one that works. Borrow one first op from a friend to see if you like it

Cookit · 26/10/2019 21:38

Yes and I regretted it every day. I then bought a Shark which I have never regretted.

missmouse101 · 26/10/2019 21:44

No one is being a dick about grammar. Or incorrect words. It is just a gentle pointer, because the wrong word alters the meaning. If we go on, and on, and on ignoring mistakes, it will be so much harder to get it right next time. The incorrect version will be perpetuated, which doesn't help anyone, writer or reader.

ThighThighOfthigh · 26/10/2019 21:45

I don't like dysons, they're complicated to empty and just cumbersome. I fancy a shark though.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 26/10/2019 21:45

The first poster COULD be a helpful point out. Every poster after that is just a twat.

RockinHippy · 26/10/2019 21:46

I honestly wouldn't bother, Dyson are rubbish compared to Henry, Shark etc, we bought into the hype & have had various Dyson for about 20 years.

They were good once, but having recently tried Shark & bought a George (Henry's suped up cousin) which are both way better, as was DHs work Henry that I used for a while when my last Dyson died. I mainly switched because I hate his Brexshit bull, but I'm so glad I did.

PH30B3 · 26/10/2019 22:59

Thanks for everybodies opinions.
