Visiting DC tomorrow who’s at uni in Huddersfield. Going to take him out for lunch or dinner (with 3 younger kids also).
Any suggestions for somewhere really tasty?

To be quite honest Huddersfield isnt really known for good restaurants theres a few decent ones in brighouse which is about 15 minutes by car or toby carvery at ainley top heading towards halifax about twenty minutes by car

Eric's or Manorhouse in Lindley, The Scullery Bar & Kitchen in Highfields, Epicure in the town centre. All fairly centrally located!

QueenOfToast · 26/10/2019 15:24

I'd try and find a nice pub in one of the villages. The Three Acres is lovely.

NerdyCurvyInkedandPervy · 26/10/2019 15:30

Trattoria Domenico in the Imperial arcade is nice, as is Apadana on Viaduct street, near the big Tesco.

hammeringinmyhead · 26/10/2019 15:33

Gringos!

hammeringinmyhead · 26/10/2019 15:36

If you were to drive to Ainley Top at least try the Nags Head.

scazlackabumdiyay · 26/10/2019 15:38

Yes to the three acres, it's gorgeous!

EnFlique · 26/10/2019 15:45

Med One is lovely, it’s in the town centre by the bus station!
Also Manjaros is apparently very good and family friendly- that one is behind the uni.

earlydoors42 · 26/10/2019 15:48

We go to Med One in town or the Ephesus.

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/10/2019 15:49

You will be better off driving into Leeds or Sheffield

SpoilsburyToastGirl · 26/10/2019 16:03

There are LOTS of nice places in Huddersfield and surrounding area, many of them independants, Three Acres, Eric's, Rumpus burger, Devour, Pax Burger, Med One. You don't need to go to Sheffield or Leeds to find somewhere nice to eat!

The woodman inn, punch tapas, uno (Italian), gringos (Mexican) chilli lounge or Lala's (Indian)

QueenArseClangers · 26/10/2019 22:21

Thanks for all the fantastic suggestions. DC fancies tapas so we’re heading to Medina la Pepa which seems to have plenty of good reviews on Trip Advisor.

Glad you have decided but for future reference, The Olive Branch at Marsden is nice Smile

Flowersmakemyday · 26/10/2019 22:50

I'm a mature student at Huddersfield and love Epicure, which is just across the road. Tiny, but so worth it. Another place to try out on return visits is Om is Where the Heart Is at Slaithwaite, a short drive away. I'm off there tomorrow with my daughter and her boyfriend and can't wait. Enjoy catching up with your son.

isseywith4vampirecats · 27/10/2019 17:03

for the future we went to the bridge inn at holmfirth today for lunch not cheap but the food was really good

ilovesooty · 27/10/2019 17:14

Good news about the Bridge Inn. I'm staying there for a night in December. Thanks @isseywith4vampirecats.
