Just a rant really! Drove down early from Bath and have had a great day here. Friendly staff and super rides. However, upon trying to exit at 630 ish, we were told that ‘no’ you have to stay here until 730. Defensive staff try to say things like: “ You can sit in your car for an hour but you can’t leave. It’s been on signs in the car park.” We then tried to speak to somebody ( as we have a 4 and 5 year old) and were told: we don’t have any names to give you. So my AIBU, should there not have been a mention of this when we entered the park or at least an automated message an hour or so before so that people with young families could leave? We are so sat in the car counting down to when they will let us leave!

We’re just in the middle of a 2 and a half hour drive back from Legoland and DH said he would have driven through the cones with our grumpy 5 year old. We never saw any mention of that! But then the Ninjago queue said 40 minutes and it was nearer 2 hours 😣. Staff were nice though

I hope you get home soon! My DH nearly did drive through the cones as he was so frustrated with being trapped for an hour. I don’t think the communication was at all clear that you couldn’t leave until 730. We are out now and had a great day apart from the arrogant lady on the gate almost smirking that we had to stay. Top staff otherwise from every other member of staff we met:)

You could have watched the fireworks from your car to keep the kids occupied.

This is bizarre. Surely they can’t legally keep you against your will? What was the reason for not letting you leave? Was it just some cones preventing you from driving out? We’re other people trapped with you?

@Thismummyruns You can't leave while the fireworks are on for safety reasons.

It’s because it’s during the fireworks display, for health and safety. There is plenty of warning about this including on the website.

Alas we didn’t see this information and by the sounds of the complaining going on in the office, lots of other families didn’t know either! Just want people to be aware that you’ll be trapped for an hour! My 4 year old doesn’t like fireworks and so we didn’t plan to stay obviously! Strange thing being a prisoner though!

I went into the 'fresh' doughnut shop this morning and they gave me pre-made doughnuts from a warm cabinet (catering device thing). The bag was soaked through with grease so I asked for a fresh bag to transfer them into. I was told I wasn't allowed !

I got a bag.

This is the epitome of the Legoland experience, never again.

It’s a shame as bar the being emprisoned at the end, we had a good day. I am glad you got your bag!!

I HATE legoland

I still don’t understand. Why isn’t it safe to leave while the fireworks are on?

That’s horrendous, what if there was a family emergency and you needed to get home? Legoland is awful in most respects though to be honest. They treat their (mainly young) workforce appallingly.

Couldne worse. One year when I went a firework night the exit Road and set the side on fire. No one could leave until gone 9pm, think it was closer to 10pm.
They reopened the rides and people went back in, but when they reopened the exit road everyone tried to leave at once and it took 2 hours to get off site.
I was pregnant and very sick at the time.

Beautiful fireworks though.
