I had the implant last year. Got it taken out because I had bleeding every single day.

In a different relationship and at uni now so got it again, but it feels different now? Only had it 2 weeks but it really feels like it’s poking against my skin when I move my arm like it’s just ready to come out.

Also curious about the St. John’s wort being incompatible with it. I don’t take that but just interested to know if it really does stop it working?

You'd really be better off asking your doctor if your implant feels wrong. Don't ignore it.

Bobthefisherghoulswife · 24/10/2019 22:54

Yeah, I agree with @Lockheart I think you need to get in with your Dr.

I had one put in at 18 as I'd been on the pill for 4 years (period related) and bled for 4 months continuously, I had to beg my Dr to take it out as I "hadn't given a chance" went back on the pill after that.

I’m on my 5th Implant, it works like a dream for me, you definitely shouldn’t feel it like you describe. Get it checked out! Best place for insertion, removal and questions are sexual health clinic - they are staffed by experts who know the product inside out. Much better than GP. Not sure about St John’s Wort - I know it affected the pill, not sure about the implant.

I absolutely loved having mine, had a replacement after 2.5 years and had that for 1.5 years until removal when TTC.

Other than some odd spotting every couple of months or so that became more frequent nearing the end of the life of the implant, I had no periods whatsoever.

Even at my smallest (when I had it originally inserted) it did not feel like it was poking through my skin if I stood normally, but certain positions could do so. It is meant to sit close to the top of the skin, so if you don't have a lot of fat up there you could be more prone to feeling it.

While I gained weight on it that was down to food, not the implant, as I successfully lost around 4 stone on my first implant with gym/diet. If you do gain weight it can make it tricky for removal due to the extra fat- found that out the painful way!
