AIBU to think turkey prices will go up nearer Xmas and to buy a frozen one now? Not done xmas for as many people before as I am this year and I'm panicking

YABU. Poor turkeys. Grotesque business. Just have the veg etc and chill.

Likethebattle · 24/10/2019 20:12

Just get a frozen one and bung in the oven.

Thatwinteryfeeling · 24/10/2019 20:12

You hear so many people spending a fortune on them and I'm thinking too much in to it.. fresh, frozen, organic, bronze, running free haha... I'll go with the frozen

OP posts:
Oysterbabe · 24/10/2019 20:15

No harm in buying it now. Frozen is a lot cheaper.

Thatwinteryfeeling · 24/10/2019 20:21

I'll get it ordered and stick it in the freezer.. job done

The majority of the ‘fresh’ ones are killed weeks before and then stored in CO2 to keep them fresh. If you have room for one in your freezer buy it in advance, it is likely to be just as nice.
Also go for a breast joint rather than a whole turkey, easier in every way and much smaller in the freezer

Thatwinteryfeeling · 24/10/2019 20:54

Thank you for your advice @smallpinkbear

I wouldn’t care much for the turkey as long as I could still have pigs in blankets.

AliceLittle · 24/10/2019 21:25

Wait till 4pm on the 24th and get a organic, hand reared, Norfolk 5lber, pre seasoned with handpicked wild sage and streaky bacon from Lidl for £5:50 down from £32.

If you can hold your nerves that is.

Thatwinteryfeeling · 24/10/2019 21:30

@Alicelittle I'm already panicking in October, imagine what i would be like on as eve Grin

@PrettyShiningPeople me too, myself and partner couldn't care and would probably buy a gammon, pur two kids wont eat it either but guests will expect a turkey
