I recently noticed an odd smell in my under stairs cupboard and given the crap coats/vac/ironing board that lives there I didn't get round to investigating fully until this morning.
Pulled everything out and located the source of the smell to a hole in my floorboards where a pipe comes through (I have sub floors). Pulled up the lino in there and prised up a floorboard and discovered the source was a decomposing rat! Luckily DH at home today so he then had to prise up more floorboards to get to it to remove it.
I've been meaning to deal with putting mesh over the airbricks to stop rodents getting in but I am so on this now. Please tell me that under my feet I don't have hundreds of rats making a home down there.... I am so freaking out.
At least the overflowing cupboard has had a good clear out.
