Found a lump

worriesihave · 23/10/2019 21:52

I found a lump yesterday, it's on my labia.

A small pea sized really sore lump.

Goggle has terrified me and I will see a doctor but has anyone experienced this and it's just been a cyst or something like that?

Don't panic! It could very easily be a harmless cyst. I'm sure the doctor will put your mind at rest.

Wolfiefan · 23/10/2019 21:54

A bartholin’s cyst? (Not sure how to spell it!)

picklemebrains · 23/10/2019 21:55

A really sore lump on your labia is almost certainly a small spot. It will burst or shrink down and vanish over a few days. Try a salt water warm compress or some mag sulph paste.

If it's still there unchanged in a few days, see your GP.

(I used to get loads of these)

forthrightandsure · 23/10/2019 22:44

I get these all the time. Really sore. Give it a couple of days and you'll be able to give it a squeeze and suddenly it'll be better. So stop panicking, it's a spot.

Lolwhat · 24/10/2019 00:36

Could just be a pimple, don’t panic

DramaAlpaca · 24/10/2019 00:38

Try not to worry, it's almost certainly a cyst or an ingrown hair or something & totally harmless. Get it checked though, for your own peace of mind.

florenceflossie · 24/10/2019 00:39

I also get these from time to time - it's a bartholin's cyst don't panic.

florenceflossie · 24/10/2019 00:40

is the lump on the labia or is it pushing the labia outwards - if you get what I mean?

Swimslikeamole · 24/10/2019 00:57

It's possibly a boil and will grow a little larger over a few days if so. Use warm compresses and an antibacterial wash. Be super careful about hygiene as they can spread. Caused by staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Ohthatsfabulousdarling · 24/10/2019 01:58

I've had one of these. It was gone in about 10 days.

aLilNonnyMouse · 24/10/2019 04:27

Very very likely it's a cyst and nothing serious. If it hurts, warm baths can help. Try not to squeeze it if it's doing nothing, but if it starts leaking pus, give it a hard squeeze (grit your teeth!) and drain it.

They tend to go away by themselves, or pop themselves within a week or so.

Theendofmyrope · 24/10/2019 05:52

Yes...I get them occasionally.

SnowsInWater · 24/10/2019 07:14

I found one of those last week, exactly eight days after I had been given the all clear by my oncologist for breast cancer. As you can imagine I was more than a little hysterical. Examined by oncologist the same day and he told me it was nothing to worry about, it's gone now!

Thank you for all the reassuring messages.

I have never had a lump in this area before and just got myself all worked up.

I will see how it is over the coming days and hopefully it will disappear.

It is so tender though 😬

OP posts:
Mummaofmytribe · 24/10/2019 07:43

That happened to me and it started to "deflatw" the night before I'd made a GP appointment. After a bath the next morning it was further diminished so I cancelled the appointment and it had disappeared by the end of the week.
Obviously if you're suffering, make an appointment, but otherwise give it a couple of days and go if it's still a problem.

worriesihave · 24/10/2019 09:26

Just had a look, there is a yellow head on it now!

I tried a squeeze but way too painful.

Have ordered magnesium paste though

picklemebrains · 24/10/2019 13:06

Try after a hot bath. As a pp said, ideally use some tissue to squeeze, so you don't get more!

GeePipe · 24/10/2019 13:08

I get these all the time. Bath in hot water with some salt and use a hot compress 3 times a day on it. If its not gone in a week make an appointment as its ptob a cyst or a stubborn spot.

Ruby666 · 18/11/2019 00:12

I’ve got one atm, I didn’t even know you could get spots down there so it has worried me a little mines like a lil ball under the skin!
