Over 3+ years ago I was assaulted by a co-worker. It was unprovoked, I gave them a fright when I came into a room they were passing by. They slapped my arm with a hard force as this was their reaction to it. I was shocked and didint say anything as I was easily intimidated at this point. Another co-worker was there at the time of this but also said nothing.

We've had other issues since I came back to work after maternity leave. It escalated to a full on argument in our work place due to me not being happy being told to shut up twice for no reason. Since then I asked to not work with the person but this has been ignored as I find that I am having to work the same shifts with them.

Recently I made suggestions to them in regards of work but was ignored twice. AIBU to report the assault to my team leaders so that I dont have to work with them on my shift or can I go to the union or HR ?

It seems like more of an accident than an assault to me, would the coworker who saw it support any complaint you make? You shouldn't be engaging in full on arguments at work either

Did they hit you out of instinctive reflex or anger?!

FloatingObject · 23/10/2019 14:56

It was over 3 years ago, I'm not sure you can do anything now

3 years ago? No will sound like you’re making it up now

That sounds like a reflex not assault. Unless your colleague has form for agression or violence etc it seems a bit vindictive to me. In your part.
