Mole removal follow up appt at 12:15 - can anyone help?

Hello,

I had a mole removed from my leg and have a follow-up appointment today at 12:15. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Do they only do a follow up if it's bad news?

Trying to be realistic so not panicking but want to be prepared.

Thank you...

I had a follow up for mole removed and they just wanted to check it was healing ok.

When I had mine the surgeon looked at how it was healing - said I could remove the waterproof dressing and advised how to minimise scarring - and he had the pathology report so he told me what it was. Luckily mine was a weird thing, but harmless.

Hi OP, didn't want to just read and run but don't have much advice either. Try to relax and not be worried about your appointment. It may just be a follow up to inform you they removed it all or it could be more but either way at least you are being seen to if that makes sense. Hope all goes okay for you.

Hi OP. I've had several moles removed and there has generally been a follow-up visit to check healing, either with the doctor or the nurse. They usually send the mole for analysis at a pathology lab. If that had shown anything concerning, I think they would have phoned you and asked you to come in to discuss the results rather than for follow-up which is usually when they just check that everything is ok before discharging you. Good luck!

Thanks all - in the waiting room so we shall see. It was a while ago so they will have the results by now.

How did it go, OP?

All fine! So relieved...

Mine was just to tell me the results, they did also call me back in at a later date to tell me that they couldn't remove the root of the mole and so it might grow back but nothing serious. As PP said if its bad news I think they ring you to ask you to come in.
