So as to give a little background, I'm 27 and currently working in retail. My mum does have MS and has to have MRI scans every so often. So I've been brought up with the knowledge of the symptoms of this condition and with knowing that my own risk of it is greater than the general populace. As my name suggests, I'm also female so again, a greater risk.
I first recall experiencing tremors back in secondary school. There was a notable incident where I was stood up in class and my hands/arms were visibly trembling. This caught my teacher's attention at the time and she asked if I were ok. I shrugged it off at the time figuring I was just nervous.
Now all these years later, I fear MS may have finally caught up with me. Back in August, I was working an 8 hour shift on the tills, which is about as fun as you can imagine. Roughly an hour until I finished my shift, my right forearm began to ache and gradually over the hour, it intensified and I lost all sensation in that arm. I hadn't banged my arm on the till or anything.
The following morning, my left wrist began to ache and that too slowly spread down the forearm but ultimately stopped unlike the right arm.
Fast forward to this past weekend. I've experienced several ''glitches'' not too dissimilar. i.e leg muscle spasms, mostly in my left leg. I also had a disturbing incident of, momentarily, being unable to figure out how to hold my dinner knife. It must have taken me a good 30 seconds to remember.
This past Saturday night, I was sitting in bed and watching a film with my husband. I also admit to enjoying a glass or two of wine. I suddenly had this tingling sensation creeping up from my throat and then numbing the right side of my face. I told my husband and he checked my face wasn't drooping in case it was something, you know, bit severe. I think it lasted about 45-60 seconds in total but has really freaked me out. I had also had another leg spasm that morning.
I've made an appointment to see my GP, although I can't get in until 12th November. I've been making a diary of these symptoms that have bothered me since August just in case but I guess what I'm really asking is if anybody else here, has either experience with MS or suspected MS and how they got along with getting a referral?
I don't know if I'm just paranoid and its not MS, but I'll just be relieved to get a diagnosis at this stage so I know I'm not just blowing things out of proportion!
Thank you!
