To ask what weird things you do

This has probably been asked before but I've not been around that long, so don't shoot me! I'm out on a dog walk and unintentionally I kicked a conker along the path with my left foot. I then spent the next few minutes looking for another conker to kick with my right foot so it "didn't feel left out"!?!? Please tell me I'm not the only weird one out here, what utterly random shit do you do? Please........Grin

For about a year I became obsessed with working words out backwards. Then sentences. Every word I heard.
I had to consciously train myself out of it, I have no idea what that was about

I have to try and stop the microwave before it beeps to signal that it's finished, 1 second left is the ideal.

Talk to my soft toys, they all have their own little lives and personalities (I'm far too old for this) Blush

If I see a lone magpie I have to salute it.
Can't have new (any) shoes on the table.
Like the volume on the radio to be on an even number.
Don't like big lights on when dark, like lamps to be on.
Won't walk under ladders
Say a prayer for any coffin I see in a hearse, my husband thinks this is bonkers !

Sure there's loads of other weird stuff I do.

I have a habit of picking the skin on my thumbs around my nails

Oh god I've done this my whole life, to the point my thumb nails don't grow straight. Especially on the left hand, I'm right handed so that one is more often occupied with other, more useful things.

I can't do the earlobe thing, my earrings (which I never take out) get in the way. I do like to turn my earrings round and round though.

@Namechange8471 OMG I do this! I didn't know it had a name or that anyone else did it, I thought I was just odd.
Ever since I was a child I've had very vivid, elaborate daydreams and they're often triggered by a particular piece of music.

I also have synesthesia - certain letters, numbers, moths of the year and sounds have a colour that I can "see" very vividly in my mind's eye.

Just thought of some others...I pick skin off my lips and from the sides of my thumbs, the bits that are just beside the nails. Usually when tense/stressed/bored.

I have to eat food symmetrically - a few bites of the meat, then an equal amount of the potatoes and then the veg, then repeat.

If I'm eating a sandwich I always have to leave the last little bit uneaten.

When I can't sleep I find it soothing to "re-trace" a route from my past e.g. in my head I walk the route to school, go into the classroom and sit down. Or I get on a bus to an old friend's house. I go over all the details that are on a particular route, like all the buildings and trees etc. Usually I'm asleep before I even reach my destination. Only works with past memories though, it would't work with my current route to work for example.

I used to be very superstitious (thank you mum) and would count magpies, worry about black cats, not cut my hair on a Friday and so on. Spilling salt was a nightmare.

Until one day I was counting magpies and realised I was more likely to have an accident driving because of the habit, and I decided to stop. I absolutely refuse to have these nonsensical superstitions dictating my life.

I now never to any of these things. Don't give a monkeys about bad luck as there's no such thing. I'm much happier and less anxious about fate as I know nothing I do (apart from common sense) makes any difference.

Just go cold turkey and stop.
