I don't follow. What on earth could be so embarrassing about a rooster?

BillHadersNewWife · 21/10/2019 23:44

Isn';t it "Cockram" not Cockrem.

katewhinesalot · 21/10/2019 23:45

So? He can't pronounce a name and made a bit of a TIT of himself.

Oops sorry op, have I offended you by loudly mentioning tit?

Lulualla · 22/10/2019 00:06

Fucking hell. You think the point is that he didn't know how to pronounce it, miss pronounced it and OP is making it into a big deal?
Are people really this thick?

The guy knew what he was doing. He saw a rude word in the clients name, and announced it to the room because he thought exclaiming "COCK" to the office would be funny.
OP, and I assume the other staff, didn't find the syllables cock funny, and probably gave him a raised eyebrow look. So he needed to shuffle off embarrassed that his attempt at humour had failed.

I really can't believe so many people interpreted this as him genuinely trying to spell the name out, and now as being unable to pronounce the name.

He made a penis joke. No one found it funny (since the OP thinks he will be embarassed). OP just wanted to share the childish behaviour of her colleague to see if anyone would have found it funny and laughed, or if we'd also have given him a raised eyebrow with a look and he should be embarrassed.

PhilCornwall1 · 22/10/2019 00:24

Fuck me blind I know it's gone down hill on here but still!

You're right OP. Did you see the thread someone posted about a colleague shouting the word COCK? It's going down hill on mumsnet I tell you!

Catsandchardonnay · 22/10/2019 00:37

Too right it’s gone downhill on here OP, and you’re the one right at the bottom of the valley.

Monty27 · 22/10/2019 01:09

Maybe he's not as immature as you 😴

BuntyBonus · 22/10/2019 02:32

@Lulualla and @managedmis I really don’t know what people aren’t getting on this thread! If it’s any consolation OP I totally understand what you are saying. Don’t worry, it’s them, not us!

Lulualla · 22/10/2019 07:59

@Monty27.

OP didn’t find a man loudly exclaiming the word COCK funny, given that they were in the workplace and discussing a client. The guy found it funny, seems quite gleeful to have come across a name with cock in it and couldn’t help himself going basically going ooooh, cock!

And OP is immature? Can you explain that?

OP is saying that she didn’t find it funny and thinks he should be a bit embarrassed, and wanted to know if we’d have found it funny or if we’d have been thinking “you’re acting like a child”.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/10/2019 08:08

I'm finding this thread hilarious, tbf I have a high temperature, or maybe I'm actually the OP's colleague

Beveren · 22/10/2019 08:23

I've never heard of that surname. Sorry. I would've said cock too

Why, @HauntedMessfrogbeaver? Do you normally leave out the second syllable of people's names?

msmith501 · 22/10/2019 08:25

Why are you posting this?

It's a bit of a non event isn't it. I don't understand why you think he will never want to look you in the eye again? Are you ten years old?

NearlyGranny · 22/10/2019 08:41

Trebilcock is a name around here. Stress on the second syllable, fortunately.

RockinHippy · 22/10/2019 09:29

Jeez, you'd be great fun down on the chicken farm. A man said a word, really, it's a non eventConfused

HauntedmessFrogbeaver · 22/10/2019 09:37

@Beveren

I meant the pronouncing of the hard CK in the name if I didn't know it. Like saying CoCKburn instead of Coburn if you didn't know the CK was silent.

That's what I thought the Op meant. That the colleague had mispronounced the name unintentionally and that's why he was cringing after she clarified. From further comments it appears that wasn't the case.

HauntedmessFrogbeaver · 22/10/2019 09:38

@Beveren

So in answer to your question, no I don't leave parts of peoples names out when speaking to them.

michaelbaubles · 22/10/2019 09:51

I get what happened, I just don't see why he'd be cringing or embarrassed to look people in the eye afterwards! But then in my workplace everyone would have laughed.

Zaphodsotherhead · 22/10/2019 09:55

I wondered why they were bringing back all those sit coms from the 70's.

Now I know.

Whatafackinliberty · 22/10/2019 09:57

Oh yeah he should never show his face again Halloween Hmm
