Don't worry OP, reading comprehension on this site is quite often not very good. People just don't understand, and then tell you off because of what they think you're saying.

CAG12 · 21/10/2019 19:08

No. We understand. We just dont agree.

summersherewishiwasnt · 21/10/2019 19:09

This has made me laugh 😂

MarianaMoatedGrange · 21/10/2019 19:11

I don't own any pearls at all

Wot OP no pearl necklace?

Zebraaa · 21/10/2019 19:12

Cringing at @Lulualla thinking she has to explain it to us when we already get it... it’s just not embarrassing or funny.

Hecateh · 21/10/2019 19:15

I once worked in a sales office and one of the reps surname was 'Mycock' - didn't worry me in the slightest until someone phoned wanting the rep to call and when I asked his name, the surname was Hiscock. Again a perfectly normal name but 'Hiscock' wants 'Mycock' to call does have a bit of a ring to it. Grin

MarianaMoatedGrange · 21/10/2019 19:19

Hecateh I now have images in my mind of the happy pair of cocks on the telephone to each other Grin

KurriKurri · 21/10/2019 19:22

Is it one of those names where it is spelt 'cock....' but not all the letters are pronounced ? e.g. My MIL's maiden name was Cockburn pronounced Co'burn.
BUt the guy was pronouncing it wrong and stupidly emphasising the 'Cock' bit because he thought he was being funny. Then you corrected his pronunciation and he looked stupid?

That's what I am taking from the story - but of course I may be making it all up. Whatever - your colleague sounds about 12 !

Migrainefun · 21/10/2019 19:22

I hate waiting for a punchline, and there's just punch made of kia ora, tears and piss.

Glacecherrychops · 21/10/2019 19:23

We need a diagram.

eBooksAreBooks · 21/10/2019 19:32

When you say work, you mean school don't you?

DimensionalShambler · 21/10/2019 19:34

This is alarmingly stupid. There is definitely cringing here - it’s me, cringing in vicarious embarrassment for OP. Maybe put the internet down for the evening and read a book or something?

Mitzicoco · 21/10/2019 19:37

Wow there's some real snarky ones out tonight OP!

Lulualla · 21/10/2019 20:15

In any other thread where an OP comes on to tell a story about a colleague doing something childish, everyone goes “they’re an idiot” and commiserated with the OP for having to work with childish men making penis jokes.

But on this thread, a childish man tried to make a veiled penis joke, the OP wants to share her annoyance the sort of guy she has to work with, and everyone acts like she’s the childish one?

And the responses are showing that everyone thinks he just said the name, and it’s the OP who is emphasising that he said cock. It was him who said the name, which is totally fine, but then stopped the work conversation to loudly exclaim “COCK”. Any other time guys make stupid jokes, mumsnet agrees that the guy made a stupid joke. So why is the OP getting flamed here?

477964z · 21/10/2019 20:42

He interrupted what was being discussed so loudly say "you know, like COCK". Which is what little kids do when they are going "haha, it's got a funny word in it, ooooh".

I read it more like if I was trying to explain the spelling of, I dunno, Fitzpatrick:

‘F I T Z PAT, you know like PAT, R I C K’

When people are spelling something out it’s common to just say the part of the word that is a known word already in itself, have you never heard that?

I’m fully aware OP is saying that the coworker was the one who said ‘you know, cock’! I’m wondering where you were getting the idea that he said it in a ‘mocking way’ as all OP has said is that he was loud.

Can’t quite believe I’m responding to this either but there you go 😂

Lulualla · 21/10/2019 20:49

Because, unless OP is completely off her rocker, I’m sure she can tell when someone is conversationally saying “it’s cockren, like cock-r-e-n” compared to them spotting a rude word and going “like COCK”.

It’s fairly obvious when someone is mocking and trying to make a joke. Which is what OP is complaining about, so that’s what he was doing.

But no, let’s all pretend to not understand that and tell the OP that she shoulder embarrassed for herself.

managedmis · 21/10/2019 20:52

That's the thing, he didn't say 'rem', just the individualwword 'COCK'.

If someone was called Cuntington and they just said 'CUNT' would you understand?

Fuck me blind I know it's gone down hill on here but still!

Simon Fitzpatrick. Does he?

WonderTweek · 21/10/2019 22:03

Slightly off topic, but in my old job I often had to ring an office and ask to speak to someone whose surname was Cock, let's call her Pauline Cock. I'd ring the office and be all awkward and say "could I speak to Pauline please", and the person would go "we have a couple of Paulines here, which one do you need?" and I would be squirming. To be fair, I was quite young (although I would still probably find it funny and awkward Grin).

PancakeAndKeith · 21/10/2019 22:56

Fuck me blind I know it's gone down hill on here but still!

I know right. People starting threads that don’t make any sense about a vaguely rude work.

MorganKitten · 21/10/2019 23:12

What?
