Likelihood of being caught driving with no licence?

277 replies

Throwaway283833848 · 20/10/2019 23:01

Currently don’t have a driving licence.

What is the likelihood of being stopped by the police?

Myself and my husband are both insured on the car.

I know it’s unreasonable, just wondering how likely it is?

OP posts:

If it is you driving Throaway then stop.

hellenbackagen · 20/10/2019 23:32

Hingeandbracket · 20/10/2019 23:32

@hellenbackagen
You are talking through your hat

Pardonwhat · 20/10/2019 23:32

hellenbackagen

You share gossip about potential criminal cases on social media with each other?
Sure. What else didn’t happen?

MuchBetterNow · 20/10/2019 23:33

Nobody advised the op they were going to get away with it, quite the reverse. Most posters have advised strongly against it. You really do type a load of shite.

Cherrysherbet · 20/10/2019 23:33

What a stupid thing to do. I hope you get caught.

puppyconfetti · 20/10/2019 23:34

I have a masculine forename and was stopped once as officer thought a man should be driving.

Erm, no, that didn't happen. If it did there is a huge part of the story missing. There is no way a police officer saw you driving, contacted your insurance company to see who was named on the policy, then stopped you all in a short time. That would have had them following you for ages!

Oh, and anyone who has DOC on their policy can drive someone else's car if they let them, so how would the police even know who should be driving?

CherryBathBomb · 20/10/2019 23:35

@hellenbackagen
Definitely talking poop Grin

puppyconfetti · 20/10/2019 23:35

@hellenbackagen

You are not a police officer.

HTH

clpsmum · 20/10/2019 23:35

@Throwaway283833848 your on here asking how likely it is you'll be caught commuting a crime then get shitty with me.

Seriously hope you get caught the first time you do it.

puppyconfetti · 20/10/2019 23:36

@hellenbackagen

We have a department fb page and it's hilarious. Really good read. And we catch a good few each shift without insurance or license.

Is it police sim for the PC you play Grin

hellenbackagen · 20/10/2019 23:36

Ffs you are all well behind the times . Our force uses fb and the twitters.

And if you're so convinced I'm talking shite crack on !

I guarantee you every so gle shift we do we catch at least one driver with no license or insurance- that's kind of my job! Anpr is fitted to all traffic mobiles both marked and unmarked and some response cars . And the. There's that good old coppers nose - instinct if you like. And when out and about I pnc loads of cars without the driver ever even knowing unless I stop them . We have pnc, radios ....not just anpr. !

VenusTiger · 20/10/2019 23:37

You, very oddly and immaturely seem to be in the belief @Throwaway283833848 that you’re immune to road traffic accidents!!!

If someone hits you or vice verse, police are likely to be called, you’ll be breathalysed and chucked in the nick for driving a vehicle/weapon with no licence and no insurance.

You’re irresponsible!

Pardonwhat · 20/10/2019 23:38

Hellenbackagen

Yes - loads of FORCES do have public pages.
You suggested your DEPARTMENT had a private one for gossip.

MuchBetterNow · 20/10/2019 23:38

"the twitters" ah poor Helen, poor poor Helen

hellenbackagen · 20/10/2019 23:38

Many on here will no me as vicar....and will vouch that I am a bone fide police person .

I hope op reads all the comments telling her she's safe ....🤔

Dollymixture22 · 20/10/2019 23:39

If you are in an accident and badly hurt some one there is no insurance.

Bloody selfish.

hellenbackagen · 20/10/2019 23:39

Traffic have their own public fb page called operational support.

Public. Not for gossip!! Where did I ever say that!!???

Branster · 20/10/2019 23:39

Throwaway you’d get caught if police stop you for whatever reason or if you are involved in an accident. It is absolutely not worth the risk. Why would you knowingly do something illegal even when you know you are being unreasonable.
Accept that you don’t have your licence. Do your time and learn from your mistake if it was confiscated for a reason OR apply for a renewal if it has expired or invalidated for medical reasons OR pass the driving test if you don’t actually have a driving licence to start with.

WiltedDaffs · 20/10/2019 23:40

I don't care how likely it is that'll you'll be pulled over. You've either not passed a test, had your licence taken away for shit driving or have a medical condition that would make driving dangerous. Whatever it is, you'd be endangering yourself and, most likely, others. It's incredibly selfish. If you do it, I hope you get caught. Oh and judging by the Twitter feeds of traffic police around the country, they catch people without licences all the time.

bakedbeanzontoast · 20/10/2019 23:40

@puppyconfetti it did indeed, that was the response I got when I asked why I'd been pulled over. It was only my name on the insurance and I was the cars owner. I have no reason to lie Confused

DontLookBackIntoTheSun · 20/10/2019 23:40

Thousands of people are driving with expired photo card licences. This should be renewed every 10 years but many people don’t check expiry dates. An expired photo card licence will not invalidate your insurance policy. Check the wording on your policy: mine says that I am covered if I hold or am entitled to hold a licence ie I have passed the driving test and I have not been disqualified or had my licence revoked.

Pardonwhat · 20/10/2019 23:40

Hellenbackagen

I’m Tina Turner.

No ones told OP she’s ‘safe’. Just commented on the real likelihood of being caught. Smile

puppyconfetti · 20/10/2019 23:41

@hellenbackagen

I'm stunned if you are a real police officer that you don't know the basics about the ANPR.

The car is insured. The ANPR will read it as insured. The OP insured will be invalid if she drives without a license, but the ANPR will not know that she is doing so. The ANPR does not know who is driving a vehicle or the status of said persons licence.
