My house has been egged!!

I woke up this morning to find 3 eggs thrown at my windows, I'm sure this is racially motivated.

Since mid December I have been racially harassed in my community, near my house and near local shops. Some neighbours are lovely to me but some will point, stare, laugh at me with my children. I have been the N word my children have also been called this. A few road to my house someone has a golliwog in the window for all to see. I have reported all incidents to police.

I'm trying to move should I report to police? Will they take it seriously? I haven't got the faintest idea who it could be it was done in the middle of the night my kids rooms are at front of house.??

Can you get cctv, or even a cheap dummy one might make the little fuckers think twice.

Yes, report it. You won't be able to prove it was racially motivated if you don't know who did it, but they'll at least have an official record of the complaint, just incase it happens again or something similar.

Yes report it but have you seen if any other houses have had the same? This happened to my parents and it turned out lots of houses had had the same thing happen.

Report to the police. If you live in a housing association property please complain to them too (may assist the move too). Or if you believe the people responsible for the racist harassment are in housing association properties please complain as they may breach the conditions of their tenancy. Equally if it is private landlords, please complain. All the way. Keep a record of all the abuse you are suffering. It will help any move.

Some people are such scums. Bad enough to say something directly to you but worse for doing something in secret. Report this to the police and keep a log of everything.

Hope you didn't have a car nearby. Egg can ruin the finish very quickly so suggest you wash any off asap.

Has nothing happened before the mid December? Anyone new moved in at that point?

I cannot recommend cctv highly enough. I have a camera at the front and the little feral shits who have been making a nuisance of themselves scratching my car and throwing things at the windows have stopped.
What they don't know is that the camera isn't plugged into anything inside because my DVR broke a while back. I also have a dash cam in my car that records while parked.

I've already recommended on MN today to another poster a cctv camera that's supposedly the bees knees. It's wireless and has a battery life of two years. It pick up sound and can be used via smartphone, Alexa, google home etc and has two way microphone. It's on offer for £79 from Very catalogue right now which is great cos funds are tight but it's needed.

Please report, even if nothing is done it is on record should (God forbid) this escalates. What region are you in?

I live up north on a cul de sac my house is the only one egged!! My parner also had to change car tire as I huge thick nail was stuck into it - now it could of just been bad luck or targeted not sure but it's a first for him. I am the only black person on my street. Housing association have not taken me seriously and the impact its had on my mental health and well being - my children have been there when incident has happened which is the most heartbreaking thing. My children are all young under 5 the youngest being 6 months I worry for them the most as i cant predict what the next person will do. Last incident happened near CCTV but it was not working so could not see anything properly. The abuse have been from random people I have not seen again, so no idea if they live in the area or just passing through.

I have met some lovely supportive people up here, not all my neighbours are like this.

Quiet frankly I'm fed up - that my brown skin offends people..

My house has been egged in the past in what I can only assume was a random attack by bored teenagers.

Definitely report it to the police. I’ve had to do similar and they were really helpful. I reported it online and got a call back within an hour. They asked if there was a pattern of behaviour that was racially motivated, so you need to tell them the rest as well.
I’m so sorry op. People can be shits and you and your children shouldn’t be having to go through this.

I've had similar incident in Leeds,OP.
I have reported it to police and they came out straight away and taken statement.
At the end I wasn't sure if it's just idiot kids messing about or we really were targeted, but police wanted to follow it up and called me couple of times afterwards to see how we're doing. It was a one off isolated incident though.

Yes it might. On the other hand, since no other house was affected and OP has been subjected to racist behaviour over the last year, it would seem an unlikely coincidence.

There seems to be a lot of egg throwing going on in my local town at the moment. It seems that groups of local youths are responsible. Not sure it is racially motivated although the Thai restaurant was targeted whilst it was open, so the owner saw the culprits. But others have reported having their houses egged and a dance studio on the 2nd floor of a building has also had it's windows egged. It made me wonder if there is something on a game or tv programme that is around at the moment which is behind the trend.
