To think powerful bass speakers should be banned in private homes!!

People in the street behind me are having a loud party and what’s more stressful than the loud drunken shouting is vibration of the bass speakers. I think someone has told them to shut up and go inside, so the volume of noise has gone down but I can still hear and feel the vibrations of their bass speakers. There are no adjoining walls (as they are not next door) and they don’t even directly back on to me.... I hate to think how bad it must for the people on either side of them (terrace houses).

I find loud base really stressful. I can’t be the only one...

hate bass speakers with a passion, i called environmental on a neighbour once as it was so incessant, stopped the long running problem though.

YANBU
They should be banned full stop. We've got one scumbag who lives a few streets away from us and we can feel their bass all the way over here. If I can ever correctly identify the house I will be putting in complaints to the relevant authorities.

EmmiJay · 20/10/2019 00:48

Good music needs bass. However you have to be considerate of neighbours. I love my sound system but only play it for short periods, and never after 6/7pm. Maybe neighbours should have warned you they were going to be having a party?

Greatnorthwoods · 20/10/2019 01:03

Nothing in this world should be banned. All that needs to happen is for people to be taught to be civil and polite

timshelthechoice · 20/10/2019 01:07

Good music needs bass.

No, it doesn't. YANBU. Fucking hate those things, mainly because I have yet to encounter anyone who has them being considerate about using them.

Fuzzywuzzywuzzy · 20/10/2019 01:14

@EmmiJay

Heavy bass at any time of the day is rediculous. How anyone can enjoy the feel of heavy bass vibrating through their body is beyond me. Then to inflict that on other people is so very selfish.

BarbedBloom · 20/10/2019 01:17

The guy in the flat above has just moved in with huge bass speakers and has them on from about 10am till 1am. We gave him a bit of benefit of the doubt for the first few nights as he had a couple of parties but I have had a constant headache and will be speaking to landlord tomorrow. I think they should certainly be banned in flats

EmmiJay · 20/10/2019 01:24

To those who have quoted me: Sorry but some people like a bit of bass. Nothing to the excess of Notting Hill Carnival type loudness but some vibration. I grew up with it so its nothing to me. Like I said though, I'm considerate. If my neighbours aren't home (I can hear when they leave) then I'm free to enjoy it. If I know they're home, and I'm cleaning I keep it down and switch it off at a decent hour. I've had zero complaints so.

timshelthechoice · 20/10/2019 01:28

It's funny how those who love those damn things never ever use headphones with their sound systems but just inflict their noise pollution on everyone else.

Notcontent · 20/10/2019 01:56

It’s nearly 2 am and it’s still going!

Thanks to those who posted and sympathised.

By the way, i don’t think telling neighbours about a party makescthjngs better. Most people don’t have multiple homes...

Mine is too @notcontent. Sympathies

monkeytennis97 · 20/10/2019 03:29

I absolutely hate loud bass. As a musician (classical) I don't get why it needs to be so loud all you can hear is vibration and not the notes. Totally sympathise. Loud extreme bass makes me feel physically ill.

Actionhasmagic · 20/10/2019 03:37

I hate loud bass soooo much. Find it super stressful for some reason. We do have some big speakers but don’t use them at the moment as we have close neighbours

safariboot · 20/10/2019 03:40

Excessive noise is already unlawful.

LesLavandes · 20/10/2019 03:49

Loud bass doesn't make music sound better! The peeps keeping you awake are inconsiderate idiots. Hope it stops soon
