To have a crush on Sam Smith

Sam has been 'criticised' on more than one thread here ('criticised' is putting it politely. However just watching their video 'Dancing with a Stranger' and he's gorgeous - tall, lean with good facial features. 😍 Thought they were gorgeous in the 'Promises' video also . Again, tall, handsome, good physique. ❤️ Also young and successful. What's not to love?

@BanginChoons

How so?

SomeoneYouHumped · 19/10/2019 10:56

Will you be going to pride this year?

Charley1988 · 19/10/2019 10:59

It's nice to be able to 'come out' amongst such understanding, broad minded people 😊

SomeoneYouHumped I very much doubt it - I mean I'm glad society is getting more inclusive n'all but never occurred to me to go!

As Sam Smith is neither gender, well done for coming out as bisexual.

That person is breaking boundaries.

Charley1988 · 19/10/2019 11:02

PeterRouse well yes - he has worn heels a few times I suppose...

Thanks again for being so accepting 😄

I don't think your bi-sexual as you fancy someone who does not believe they are any specific gender. I think that makes you pansexual. Contrary to what the name may suggest, this is not an attraction to kitchen utensils.

Charley1988 · 19/10/2019 11:04

ukgift2016 well who'd have thought it - I've come out on here and it even told my family yet😁

*you're!!

ElizaDee · 19/10/2019 11:05

they? He's one person.

Charley1988 · 19/10/2019 11:06

😂 kitchen utensil attraction may be the next trend amongst certain people - who knows.

My attraction to him is from the Promises video where he does look unmistakably male!

DanielRicciardosSmile · 19/10/2019 11:06

OP, you're forgetting to respect the pronouns again...

Zebraaa · 19/10/2019 11:06

@ElizaDee please don’t refer to him as he, his preferred choice of pronoun is they.

BanginChoons · 19/10/2019 11:06

@Namechanging2019

Somebody letting you know their preferred pronouns is them sharing something about themselves, and how they view their place in the world.

It's not an attempt on controlling anything.

Charley1988 · 19/10/2019 11:07

Sorry meant to say they they they if course!!!

I identify as deaf whenever his godawful Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas comes on the radio. Unfortunately identifying as something I'm not is pointless and I can still hear it Sad

Zebraaa · 19/10/2019 11:08

Always thought they were great until this new chapter in their life and now I find them unbearable. I’m not sure why they post’s nude photos on Instagram too.

Wheredidigowrongggggg · 19/10/2019 11:09

Op you are exactly the problem that the SS saga presents. Wanting to get on the bandwagon but not really knowing how or even why, saying you fancy someone non-binary and then failing miserably to respect the pronouns that status seeks to attract. You are as confused as he is. It’s all rather sad.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 19/10/2019 11:09

Ah yes, you're not bisexual, you are pansexual - even better!

You should definitely do an Instagram post about this, to tell the world you have come out. You can finally be your authentic self.

Charley1988 · 19/10/2019 11:10

Christine that was being played a lot at a local cafe last Xmas!!

PeterRouse I hope my followers will be as accepting of me as MNers!!Grin

they? He's one person

They has been used as a singular pronoun for cenruries and is considered the most elegant option when you are writing about someone when you don't know the sex, e.g. 'give your sample to the GP, they will arrange the testing for you', much better than he/she.

Of course, when we know someone's sex we can easily use the appropriate pronoun. Also, see Pronouns Day.

Charley1988 · 19/10/2019 11:15

Wheredid but I fancied them way before non binary was an issue - and yes I'm slipping up on the pronouns. I fancied them in the 'Promises' vid cos I thought they looked good - not cos of NB

@BanginChoons

Not at the expense of biological reality and scientific fact. He's male.
As I said, he can dress however he wants, doesn't bother me in the slightest. Likewise with sexual orientation and relationships etc. His place in the world is whenever he wants it to be (with the exepction of female only spaces obviously).
But I'll not be told by a man what it's like to be a woman.
Anyone who says being a woman is a 'feeling' has absolutely no connect to the real life experience of womanhood (and the oppression it comes with).
