I'm sorry to be posting for traffic Blush Looking for some answers from other teachers.

If I take a maternity position to cover from January to July, do I get paid over the summer holidays? Or is this something that needs negotiating?

Nope! Not if it’s a short term contract. The school only employ you until July they wouldn’t pay you until september

Pinkblueberry · 17/10/2019 10:09

I would think not. The person on maternity leave will probably have marked her ‘start date’ from the first day of the school holidays - she will get more pay that way.

Is it a two term contract or January to July?
Former, yes you’ll get paid over the summer. Latter, no.

PurpleFlower1983 · 17/10/2019 10:15

I doubt it.,

Trumpleton · 17/10/2019 10:26

Agree with above. School pro ably advertised to July so they don't have to pay for Summer...

Thank you everyone, I just assumed I would be! It's so wrong IMO. I'll keep looking and avoiding maternity covers Grin
