I’ve put on loads of weight recently. It was 5 stone but I’ve managed to lose 1stone.
I’ve always been slim, if anything I was always underweight. I’m size 16 atm.
On Monday I bumped into my old manager. I haven’t seen her for about 2 years. The first thing she did was prod me in the stomach and asked “What’s happened here? Where did all this come from?”
I smiled and made a noncommittal remark and tried to change the subject but she kept on going on about it and saying she wouldn’t have recognised me.
In the end I said “Yes, it’s shocking how much I’ve put on but I’m doing the best I can to lose weight, anyway must go”.
I ended up coming straight home really upset and I keep getting upset about it.
I know I still have a long way to go and I know I’m bloody fat, I don’t need to be prodded like I’m a lump of dough and belittled (this was in a shop with other customers nearby).
AIBU to still be hurt by this and if yes can someone lend me a grip?

"Where did your manners come from,Alcatraz?"

Alright sunshinedays thanks for pointing that out so kindly.

The op just says a shop in front of others. Initially I read that as being where they might work. Either way if a manager behaves like that outside work it could still be reported in my workplace.

I don't get rattled by weight comments that much. But that just seems nasty, as though she was purposefully trying to hurt you.
