Taking a Parenting Gap Year, AIBU? (Lighthearted)

My husband and I were just chatting about taking much deserved parenting gap year.

The Maldives are beckoning.

Teenagers do this don't they? We didn't get the chance back in the day.
Would we be unreasonable to take it now?

We have four teenagers that are fairly well housetrained.

(Lighthearted obviously, we love them to distraction, just feeling a bit burnt out).

I don't have any children yet, but I raise you full time job, full time second degree at uni and wedding planning. Can I come to the Maldives? Also can we please make it two years? I promise I'm great companyGrin

Maybe you'll be lucky to get a gap hour Grin

On your return you are required to-
bore the pants off everyone with tales of the AMAAAZZING time you had. (Isn't that what teen-agers do?).
Invite random fellow travellers to stay with you when you get back home.
Start saving for the next trip.

Gap hour is a rarity! I naively thought children were meant to get easier as they grew up.

Two years sound bliss.....

I said to my husband we must use the coin telephones. When it beeps and disconnects us it will be quite authentic.

We will also be untraceable Grin

I applaud you and bow down to you.
How did you make it to teenagers before considering this?

I'm at 5,3 and 3 months and I've started to think maybe I want to change jobs and love a child free life.
Drink wine in the evenings, go for spontaneous walks, pee alone....you know fun things that I can't do now.
