To not take DD to baby ballet?

Hello everyone, I'm just looking for some friendly advice.

I've been taking DD to baby ballet lately, which she is really enjoying. We're due to go today - I really want to take her but she's had a cold the last couple of days. She's been absolutely fine and sleeping fine, just has a runny nose.

I guess I'm just asking for advice as to how ill they have to be before you wouldn't take them. Obviously I don't want to infect other kiddies, but at the same time it's just a cold.

Any advice appreciated to help me decide 😄

If it's just a runny nose she will be fine.

Runny noses don't count as proper ill with babies! If I didn't take my dc places due to runny nose we would miss at least 50% of our engagements!

Only difference would be if tiny newborns or a child with immune compromise was going to be there.

Toddlers constantly have streaming noses. Like others have said, if you stay in for colds, you’ll never go out. The signs for me of something worse are when they get really tired and stroppy or if they have a fever.

Runny nose but feeling ok, I'd go.

Perfect, thank you. I'll take her. It's what I thought anyway, but thought I'd check.
Think I just needed the advice because we haven't really got friends at the class yet and the last thing I want to do was wind everyone up 😄

I wouldn’t.

Give them a ring see what they would want, the dance school/teachers that is.

What is baby ballet? Is it for 8 month olds or ...?

ColaFreezePop · 16/10/2019 11:23

OP you are more likely to be infected then other kids. Children are germ carriers.

AutumnRose1 · 16/10/2019 11:25

I just googled baby ballet

From 6 months 😱

We did baby ballet with our DD from 12 months old and she has recently just left her last class as a 5 year old, to go to a more competitive ballet school.

She adored her class - fingers crossed your little one does as well.

I have an illness which means bugs could kill me. My immune system is thebsame as someone on chemo etc. I wear a mask when in highly dense public places. Like the school or Asda. However I wouldn’t mind seeing a child with a runny nose. It wouldn’t send me screaming for the hills like if you’d said you’re child had been sick 20 hrs ago.

I would take her.
