To feel quite sorry for Carrie Symonds (Bojo girlfriend)

When I saw the picture of her yesterday I felt sad for her. She's still quite young and it must be very isolating being stuck with him. Plus all this Jennifer Arcuri stuff coming out. Obviously if I was her I'd ltb but I suppose that's harder to do in the public eye anyway. I wonder if she'll look back on it later and cringe.

She chose him. I feel sorry for his children, his wives, his mother, his siblings and anyone who's going to have to clean up after his next mess. So, no, I don't feel remotely sorry for her and she deserves all she will get. Hope she enjoys it.

greenlavender · 15/10/2019 14:12

I feel a total lack of sympathy for her. Knows exactly what she's doing.

misspiggy19 · 15/10/2019 14:13

The man looks like an overgrown toddler, speaks like a pompous village idiot and has kids all over the show - the appeal is obviously lost on me.

^This. Disgusting man

colourlessgreenidea · 15/10/2019 14:19

She's still quite young and it must be very isolating being stuck with him.

Why is she ‘stuck’ with him? And in what sense is she ‘isolated’? Does she not have any friends or family?

I’ll admit to knowing next to nothing about her or her history, so perhaps there’s a wealth of evidence that she is in the relationship against her will and has no one else in her life for support. But if not, I’m not sure why she warrants sympathy. Confused

NurseButtercup · 15/10/2019 14:22

Young and lost? All the fucking lols

I wholeheartedly agree!!

Alsohuman · 15/10/2019 14:27

He’s a vile, married philanderer with not a trace of conscience. Any woman involving herself with that deserves everything she gets.

AgeLikeWine · 15/10/2019 14:33

It’s reasonable to assume that Carrie isn’t stupid. She is well educated, her father is a very well-connected senior journalist and she has worked in and around Westminster for years.

She knew what Johnson was like and she knew exactly what she was getting into.

They are not married, they don’t have children, she is well capable of earning her own living so she is with him entirely out of choice. Maybe she genuinely loves him, or she thinks it’s worth putting up with him for a few very interesting months/ years as ‘first lady’. Either way, it’s entirely up to her.

longwayoff · 15/10/2019 14:35

31? Oh dear. Don't get broody Carrie, you know how that goes down with Bozo.

WithTheTide · 15/10/2019 14:35

I don’t feel sorry for Carrie. She is smart and professional, she’s in PR and no doubt has plans and goals. She knew what she was getting into with this overgrown egotistical toddler. There are times that she looks like his carer and she presents as the more mature partner. However of all the men she picked him..... parenting tips and toddler behaviour techniques will be useful when the Incredible Sulk chucks one of this tantrums. Wonder if the sofa is now covered in plastic in case he spills wine again?

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 15/10/2019 14:42

She's the close friend of a close friend. From what I know, she is very smart, very good at her job and highly respected, genuinely interested in social and environmental issues and very driven.

What she sees in BoJo, I do not know. She's hardly hard up for money, worth noting that her ex is no oil painting either.

From this and the other intel here then, I conclude that Boris is a stepping stone, a direct 'In' to the top of the party. After all, regardless of what the world thinks of him, the party selected him to be their leader and therefore PM of the country.

I'd say Watch This Space.

RubbingHimSourly · 15/10/2019 14:47

I don't follow the 'all women are victims ' trope.

Carrie Symonds is an adult, I think she knows exactly what she's doing and who to open her legs for without giving any thought at all for his poor wife who must have felt so bloody humiliated for the umpteenth time.

If this bites her on the arse and she feels out of place then so be it.

MarshaBradyo · 15/10/2019 14:49

Is he the first PM to have a gf not a wife?

I googled but it just said about him planning to get married while PM

I really don’t think she’s stick and isolated at all - bit of a leap.

averythinline · 15/10/2019 14:56

She'll get a book deal and many future appearances on loose women GrinShe knows what she's doing

PerkingFaintly · 15/10/2019 14:58

Yeah, I'm with Enrique.

I'm sure she has a plan which will be made plain at some point. If she doesn't get too badly damaged politically or personally by anything Johnson does.

AgeLikeWine · 15/10/2019 14:59

He’s already married, to Marina Wheeler, the mother of four of his children.

MarshaBradyo · 15/10/2019 15:01

Oh well that was incorrect then arf

OooErMissus · 15/10/2019 15:05

Ohhh, this reminds of a piece I read in the weekend magazine of our paper back in September.

This even manages to touch on her 'genuine social conscience'.

GrinGrin

P.S. I'm not in the UK (other side of the world), so the article is a wee glimpse into how this is all viewed from the outside.

'I prorogue, you prorogue, all of England gets massively prorogued' Grin

That's a great article ooermissus Grin Grin and interesting like you say. The other side of the world seems pretty clued up on it all

OooErrMissus Grin

I can't see Carrie as the Loose Women type at all. Bigger and more serious fish to fry has that one.

Tinkobell · 15/10/2019 15:42

Whaaaat!? I don't feel sorry for her on any kind of serious level OP! Although I do feel sorry for anyone suffering a giant honeymonster like Boris stumbling half cut around their flat forced to shout "Get off me! Get out of my flat!" 😁

Ghostontoast · 15/10/2019 15:42

I saw that Marina Wheeler has been having treatment for cancer in the last year and all while Boris was off with his floozie.

I know that most of his children are adults, but he doesn’t strike me as a candidate for “father of the year” he certainly isn’t husband of the year either.

JenniferM1989 · 15/10/2019 15:50

Not really, she played her part in an affair. Reap what you sow!

longwayoff · 15/10/2019 15:55

I shouldn't be shocked by that @Ghostontoast but really, I am. What an utter pig he is.

CosmiaGreen · 15/10/2019 15:57

So all the posters who have said 'she knows what she's doing - and for'...what is she doing it for?

Fame? Spotlight?

I don't think she IS good at her job. She was sacked from the last one on grounds of fraud- using company money for taxis to private jaunts and saying it was work expenses, and just not doing her job well.

You can read all about it.

I suppose I dislike her as I feel she has no shame. If- and I think they did- start this when he was married- she ought to have kept well out of the public gaze till his divorce was through- it's still not as far as we know.

CosmiaGreen · 15/10/2019 15:59

I wonder if the cervical cancer was anything to do with BJ and his dipping it in anything with a pulse?
