I’ve got a bridesmaid style dress I’m Th inning of taking in to be shortened
But not sure if it will
Look odd short ??

Well above the knee rather than short short

Just wonder if any of you had done this

I think it would be fine, obviously depending on the style of the dress - could you send a picture of a similar style to give an idea. I probably wouldnt for a wedding dress because I don't usually wear white and even altered wedding dresses would be very dressy.

I shortened my bridesmaid dress and have worn it a few times

I think that dress would look great just on or above the knee as a cocktail dress.

I've worn my wedding dress a couple of times - as a sort of 'costume' when doing theatrical performances!

For some reason I read this as wearing a wedding dress to more than one wedding, and I was thinking 'that might be a bit weird' Grin

Look, how clever this is xx

For our 10th anniversary we had a bit of a party and I shortened my wedding dress (well, skirt - it was a bodice and long skirt originally) to just below the knee and added netting underneath so it kinda kicked out. Loved it.

My wedding dress is actually a deep red evening dress, so it's had a fair few outings since, I made a white lace bolero jacket to go with it and that looks fab with a pair of black trousers and top, so the top has also had a fair few outings too.

I was the only bridesmaid when my brother got married. My SIL has a relative who is a real fashion designer. I got something made for me that later went into his evening wear collection and I have worn it multiple times since. Unfortunately I am now fat and dont go to places where a dress like that would be needed, but it got well used when I could wear it. The rest of the dresses I have worn as a bridesmaid I was glad to see the back of!
I think the dress in the picture would look fine shortened and worn to an evening event or a wedding as a guest etc. It is a good idea and saves waste.

my wedding dress was just below the knee and I've worn it a few times to nice restaurants etc. I deliberately chose something I knew I would wear again, otherwise seems a bit wasteful!
