Medical Stocks

Yesterday DH went to Tesco chemists in order to buy an over the counter medicine.

The lady said it’s out of stock and they don’t know when they will be able to restock it and to go to Boots as they may still have some.

Am I being paranoid or is this the state of things to come Confused

Sainsburys didn’t have paracetamol the last 2times I’ve been in there

FreshwaterBay · 13/10/2019 18:24

I don't know if it is a sign. I do know it would not be right to speculate though.

Iamnotagoddess · 13/10/2019 18:30

@FreshwaterBay.

Why?

It’s definitely is a sign of things to come, I work in theatres at the hospital and it’s now becoming a regular occurrence of shortages of all types of medications. Most company’s are holding back waiting for price to increase. It’s not looking good

God really?! Shock

Where have you been that this is news to you?

recklessruby · 13/10/2019 19:02

Sainsbury's painkillers are very limited. I usually pick up a packet of the cheap ibuprofen when i m in there but last few weeks have had to get more expensive ones.
My local corner shop is good though.

Iamnotagoddess · 13/10/2019 19:32

@Ponoka7.

Don’t believe a lot of the news as a lot of it is bollocks and don’t buy medication often.

Are you referring to Brexit OP? I imagine there will be a temporary lull but surely anyone taking prescription medications encounters this all the time anyway- I know I do. Issues with suppliers and the discontinuation of lesser used or specialist medications are something that happen to me throughout the year, Brexit or not.

Haven't as yet had any issues buying paracetamol and ibuprofen anywhere locally but have picked a pack up when in the shops just in case as I take it often.

I would ask the pharmacist the nature of the issue OP 'not being able to get hold of it' doesn't mean much- it's more helpful to know if it's a direct issue with the supplier (ask the pharmacist to call them) - a discontinuation of the product (they should advise you to ask your GP to prescribe an alternative) or simply that they cannot get it - different pharmacies have different contracts with different suppliers so often if one can't another can.

Yes I am referring to Brexit.

It was eye ointment for minor eye infection.
