AIBU to have been sarky to DP about doritos

NC because his mums on here.
I decided to make us nachos which I then regretted because messing around with making chili, guacamole, salsa, grating cheese etc was really pissing me off when I just wanted to chill today actually.

So Im at final stage laying it all out and melting the cheese on top when dp comes behind me and rubs his hands down my sides (ugh) and then steals a posh dorito (UGH) and says 'these any good then?'. I didnt reply and he said 'oh yeah, they ARE good!' and i said 'im so relieved they meet his majestys standards'.

Then we had an argument, he accused me of being sarky, and I said I was pissed off at having to cook on a sunday actually. Btw, if I didnt cook his solution would probably be a bowl of cereal (slow clap).

Which is still not a great deal of effort, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, chilli, pepper fried before you add chopped toms etc really isn’t challenging or stressful.

I’m just about to eat home made tarka dhal and I’ll be having home made veg curry with home made roti for dinner, again, not a lot of effort just everyday normal cooking.

fannyanney · 14/10/2019 12:14

This thread is nuts Grin

JenniferM1989 · 14/10/2019 12:34

Get a grip of yourself

GreenTulips · 14/10/2019 12:36

Which is still not a great deal of effort

Yes get back in the kitchen and stop complaining about wife work!!

gwackywacky · 14/10/2019 12:39

@SimonJT I also add beef. What's roti?

OP posts:
SimonJT · 14/10/2019 12:42

I don’t eat meat so I wouldn’t add it.

A roti is a type of bread, it’s similar to a naan, but a but thinner and circular.

gwackywacky · 14/10/2019 12:45

@SimonJT interesting I did not know that, I thought you were trying to be posh by saying roast in french

OP posts:
SimonJT · 14/10/2019 12:48

Haha, if you knew me you would know I’m the complete opposite of posh!!!

JenniferM1989 · 14/10/2019 12:48

The story seems to be changing an awful lot! Originally he annoyed you by interrupting you while you were 'putting the cheese on top' and still in the kitchen and not serving yet.

Then it changed to you dealing with a hard avocado at the time of the intrusion then him transporting back to the table and not getting up at all to get the nachos?

Now I've no idea what it is. Maybe he threw the avocado through the window and made off with the neighbour and they're now shacked up together! Who knows.

Nachis aren't a meal by the way and always use ripe avocados where possible OP

SimonJT · 14/10/2019 12:49

Also, if hard avocado is a problem you can buy frozen avocado, drunking it in hot water thaws it very quickly.

StroppyWoman · 14/10/2019 12:55

This thread has been brilliant and bonkers. Well played, everyone!

MaybeitsMaybelline · 14/10/2019 12:59

I get you OP, it’s not actually the nachos is it? They were the straw that broke the camels back. I suspect you do a hell of a lot more than make nachos and spending time making a normal Sunday dinner special for everyone else whilst they sit in their arses and then ask you if what you have made is good and start dipping in before it’s finished is irritating.

He probably didn’t do much wrong but sometimes you just get a bit pissed off with it all.

I get you.

WellardAvocado · 14/10/2019 13:00

@Ce7913 they are saying due on as in due to start your period

pooopypants · 14/10/2019 13:07

Well. Having just read this thread, I fancy some nachos for dinner!!

Jeez OP, the problems you have eh.

AIBU? Yes. Yes, you are. Your DH went to work, on a sunday, OUTSIDE and you're bitching about 'having to make nachos'? You find grating cheese stressful? Get yourself an electric grater - game changer.

If you find mashing an avocado stressful, how on earth do you get through a day?

Oh, to have your problems OP, it must be hard

And yes, his message was fucking hilarious. Perfectly sarcastic and succinct. I applaud him.

WellardAvocado · 14/10/2019 13:26

Aldi has a nacho kit in at the mo, and it's bloomin lovely! Complete with salsa so all you have to do is buy some guacamole (I slice avocado instead because I prefer that!) And buy a bag of grated cheese and Bob is your hard avocado.

Ce7913 · 14/10/2019 13:38

@WellardAvocado

Thank you!

AlansLeftMoob · 14/10/2019 13:38

He was affectionate and complimented the food but you wanted him to leave you alone so he left you alone and you're annoyed that he.....left you alone?

Fucking hell the poor sod

tiajon · 14/10/2019 14:00

I must say I think you've been a good sport on this thread, OP! You've taken it all in good humour.

BraveGoldie · 14/10/2019 14:24

Yes I agree OP! Thank you for being a good sport.... you have upped the happiness quotient among mums over the last two days (maybe also the amount of Doritos being eaten! I have a big pack next to me right now for the first time in months! 🤣)

Fartintheloft · 14/10/2019 15:53

@SimonJT you have just changed my life!! Frozen avocado! I had no idea. Thank you so much.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 14/10/2019 15:56

Frozen avocado is All Kinds Of Wrong. More wrong than even OP is wrong Wink

But, WAIT - electric grater?! What?! I have never heard of one but I need one.

NameChangeNugget · 14/10/2019 16:00

He owes you a spa break after that culinary marathon

Beveren · 15/10/2019 08:22

Ummm no offence but homemade blue cheese burgers, isnt that like smush beef into balls, flatten, slap cheese on top and fry?

If that's how you make burgers, OP, I'm not coming round to yours next time you do it.
