To not know when is best

I have recently discovered I’m pregnant (all very exciting) and will need to be letting work relatively soon. The problem I have is my boss has been having fertility issues and the last time someone told her their wife was expecting she did the nice bit and then was really upset.

I know I have to tell her, but wondered when would be best. Last thing on a Friday? Or am I over thinking all of this 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just don’t want to cause any more pain than necessary (this probably sounds really stupid!)

Unless you work in a place or field that requires specific pregnancy-related risk assessments, I'd wait until it was obvious enough that she will probably have guessed herself. By about 13 weeks most people at my workplace had guessed (I couldn't stand the smell of the hand sanitizer all of a sudden, had gotten a bit more rotund and was constantly snacking on ginger biscuits).

Last thing on a Friday would be better.

If she is likely to be upset it will give her time to prepare herself for seeing you again.

🤔 she’s a relatively good friend so it seems unreasonable to let her realise herself, she will know it’s an avoidance especially as I will have to tell her superior before then
