Katya on strictly tonight

Her weeping after the dance made me cringe. And her grasping of Mike bushel like a love struck teen - burying her head in his neck etc. Are they not meant to be professionals? All the touchy feely stuff is getting a bit much.

OP posts:

I honestly think the show is more about the professionals and their love lives than the dancing, Which is a shame but I also love the drama

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/10/2019 21:20

I didn’t see anything sexual tbh. I thought she was overwhelmed at how well Mike did this week.

OddBoots · 12/10/2019 21:20

It did seem very odd but who knows what is going on with her outside of work and as others have said there does seem to be a bug going around so maybe she is getting ill.

NoSauce · 12/10/2019 21:23

She worries me. Something not quite right with her these days. I hope she ok.

lololove · 12/10/2019 21:28

You've got to do something to get yourself mentioned and seen above the rest when Kelvin is doing as well as he is...!

Sarcelle · 12/10/2019 21:31

This is the first time I have not watched SCD since it started. Katya and the other two, Janette and Karen, are massive attention seekers. Obviously I never saw the incident tonight, but it is probably a calculated ploy to get viewers back on her side and to pull focus.

I have decided to stop watching it. Just the endless comedy antics in the green room, Bruno gets on my wick, Claudia's "funny" skits, some of the aforementioned pros. I am done.

It used to be glamorous, now it's gone slapstick, it's too long and formulaic.

Rachelover60 · 12/10/2019 21:31

I didn't notice, will have to watch again on iplayer.

Katya is usually excellent. They all get emotional with some partners, I remember the lovely Lilia being upset about Don Warrington. It's not bad to show emotions sometimes. I show emotions throughout Strictly!

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 12/10/2019 21:38

I thought 'I could give you a kiss' was an unfortunate turn of phrase Wink
Her ex isn't doing better than her - Alex is bottom of the leaderboard and will need a bounce to escape the DO (unfair as I thought her tango staccato bits were decent but hated the biker theme, Neil was smiling an awful lot which is wrong for a tango and he seemed to be talking/coaching her throughout).
Anton and Emma actually made me cry tonight - I loved their routine.

Rachelover60 · 12/10/2019 21:40

Just watched, very good quickstep imo.

Didn't see any untoward emotion, they did v well.

L0bstersLass · 12/10/2019 21:40

I think she's marvellous.
I think she was overwhelmed that Mike had managed to complete the choreography proving that she was right to believe in him and push him.
They were fifth in the rankings tonight rather than floating around at the bottom of the leader-board.
I can understand why she was emotional. I believe it was real.

isittooearlyforgin · 12/10/2019 21:43

Thought it was lovely and I am not an emotional person. Think she is just unbelievably proud of someone who was seen as the joke act and tif is doing really well. Not best dancer but doing his best,

PrincessScarlett · 12/10/2019 21:46

I'm another one who thinks Katya was just overwhelmed that all her hard work with Mike had paid off. He was brilliant tonight and they have both worked really hard. Considering he's been considered this year's novelty act Katya has done wonders with him.

Well that's my take on it anyway.

JulieRat · 12/10/2019 21:48

Oh you’re all harsh! I like her and I think she must be feeling vulnerable and exposed this year. In that state I think she has fallen for the very sweet and caring Mike in a way she wouldn’t normally. He’s recently married so she can’t even have a mad and unlikely fling.

Strictly is a load of guff but I stilllove it. And yes love her choreography. Her and Oti are my faves.

TheJellyBabyMadeMeDoIt · 12/10/2019 21:51

It was embarrassing BUT I think she's had the press gunning for her and after last week when it was suggested she was drunk (I know I think I can dance when drunk but she danced very well!) and then that Neil (her ex) was laughing at her falling again - what was obviously an OTT stage fall, I think she's probably got something to prove.

She hasn't killed anyone, she's just loud and talented and... Well the tabloids can't have that, they need her put in her place don't they.

I thought their dance tonight was fantastic.

I'm team Kelvin (because I have a proper crush on Oti!) but I really like about 3 others this series, which is unusual as by this stage I've normally got a clear favourite.

TheJellyBabyMadeMeDoIt · 12/10/2019 21:52

Yy @PrincessScarlett perfectly put

damncats · 12/10/2019 21:55

It wasn’t half as embarrassing as Saffron crying about her gran who is still alive. It’s not the bloody X Factor.

Katya has done really well training Mike, who was probably given to her to avoid curse rumours after last year.

antwacky · 12/10/2019 22:15

Very ott as was her reaction on Pointless a few weeks ago when she and her partner got throught to the next round, she's too dramatic for me.

Nearlyalmost50 · 12/10/2019 22:15

Her behaviour was a bit OTT, anyone would have thought she'd won, but I did enjoy his dance, and for a non-dancer he's doing amazingly well.

100PercentThatBitch · 12/10/2019 22:21

She has behaved oddly on the last 2 shows, I hope she is alright

bridgetreilly · 12/10/2019 22:27

I would LOVE to see Neil go a lot further than Katya, but sadly it looks like that isn't going to happen. She is shamelessly chasing audience popularity and I hate it.

Honeyroar · 12/10/2019 22:28

Wasn't granny gulping and weeping too? Even grandad looked overly emosh!

ManonBlackbeak · 12/10/2019 22:43

Katya seems to get such a lot of nastiness directed at her that Im not surprised she seems out of sorts this year.

Saffron isnt very nice and really shouldn't be on the show. Not a good role model for young girls at all, and hardly in Joe Sugg's league.

FAQs · 12/10/2019 22:44

I don’t think she embarrassed herself she seemed absolutely exhausted and overwhelmed by the positive standing ovation and remarks and someone who is very stressed and under pressure.

FMFL · 12/10/2019 22:46

I think she’s probably had a shit year and is feeling the pressure.

TimeForNewStart · 12/10/2019 22:48

She is shamelessly chasing audience popularity

What an odd statement, what the hell is she supposed to do?

I think she is brilliant.
