To ask how many own just a cordless hoover?

Might sound a daft question but it's not to me....

Need a new one and thinking of getting a cordless but wondered if that is enough on its own without a main plug in vac. 3 kids, no pets. Dh is a builder though and I hoover the hallway and living room daily because of the amount of dust and mud and general crap he brings in Hmm

Eldest ds has a dust allergy so it is important I hoover his room regularly as well as the rest of the house....I'd use it daily so just imaging how much easier and quicker it is to be in the world of cordless....

Any recommendations? Or shall I stick to a normal plug in vaccum seen as it will get used quite often....

I've had a cordless Dyson in the past and thought it was rubbish. I tried a couple of others and went back to a corded vacuum. Currently I use the Sebo felix which is probably the best I've ever had.

My OH is always filthy when he comes home and we have 2 small kids so always got the Hoover out here too.

Cordless are good for small areas when there's not much to clean up ime

KarenWithTheHair · 11/10/2019 15:26

I’ve only got a cordless Dyson. Love it. I vacuum every day because it’s so easy. It’s an old model though. Bought it from the Dyson outlet on eBay for about a third of the normal price.

TheQueef · 11/10/2019 15:29

I have one of each.
The shark liftaway seems to be praised in these threads.

Hugsgalore · 11/10/2019 15:31

I bought a cordless and so glad I kept my proper plug in Hoover too. The cordless eventually lose suction. They're grand for a quick going over but not for a deep clean of rugs or carpets.

SummersB · 11/10/2019 15:31

I only have a shark. I love it and do the whole house every day with it.

AaaaaaarghhhWhereAreMyKeys · 11/10/2019 15:37

I have a cordless Shark, it’s amazing! I also kept my faithful old Henry but I’ve not used it since I’ve had the Shark. Throughly recommend mine, bought it on Amazon Prime day though so wasn’t so £££

I have a big plug in shark and a dyson I love how easy the Dyson cordless is I would be lost without it now sins iv had it iv not even got the plug in shark out

LesLavandes · 11/10/2019 15:46

Cordless Dyson here

mrsm43s · 11/10/2019 15:46

I have cordless Vax cleaners (2, one stored on ground floor and one stored on second floor), fairly old ones, nothing fancy. These are perfect for day to day cleaning, and are used every day.

I also have a Henry, which I use for a deep clean whole house hoover about 2 or 3 times a year. Also use the Henry for hoovering up the pine needles after we take the Xmas tree down, cleaning up after very dusty decorating/DIY or for the first clean of a brand new carpet.

So personally, I feel that I need both, but I suspect some of the newer models available now are much more powerful than my 5 year old Vaxes.

mumderland · 11/10/2019 15:48

I have a Gtech and absolutely love it. I have to hoover around 3x a day because of my golden retriever and it brings all his fur up

attillathenun · 11/10/2019 15:49

we have the Vax air lift and I love it. Swear it takes me half the time to hoover because its so easy to use (we live in a 3 story house and it was an absolute nightmare with Henry having to unplug/plug it all the time), plus because it lifts out you can easily whip it out for doing the car, picking up bits when you don't want to do a proper hoovering session.

We went for the option of 2 batteries though because run time is only like 30 mins on each.

attillathenun · 11/10/2019 15:50

should add we have a cat and its great for picking up all the fur!

SolemnlySwear2010 · 11/10/2019 15:52

I used to have a Dyson and loved it - until I got a cordless Shark!

Now i really love the Shark and would never go back to Dyson, I couldn't believe the amount of stuff that came out of my rugs when I had just used the Dyson the day before.

billy1966 · 11/10/2019 15:52

Dyson here and love it. I am fussy about my home and find this fantastic for quickly keeping everything clean easily.

FizzyIce · 11/10/2019 15:54

Me, we have a town house so having to keep plugging and unplugging a massive hoover is just not worth the energy.
I see so many slating the fusion but we’ve had ours 4 years and it’s still perfectly good even with 2 kids and 2 cats to clean up after

FizzyIce · 11/10/2019 15:54

Fusion?! That should say Dyson

Amelia2000 · 11/10/2019 15:54

I've got a cordless Dyson and a cordless Vax and the Vax is much better.

I do however also have a Charles which I go over the whole house with once a week. The cordless just doesn't match up!

timeforawine · 11/10/2019 15:55

Sorry to hijack OP, which model Shark/Dyson do people recommend? I have an old Vax cordless i want to replace to use as a day to day hoover (have a toddler and cats)
I have my Miele for the 'proper' hoover as that is a pet model so gets the more ingrained fur up very well.

sproutsandparsnips · 11/10/2019 15:58

I had a dyson cordless, great for a bit then battery was losing charge and the parts are so expensive. Just bought a similar cordless from Lidl for less than the new Dyson battery. We shall see if it's any good. So far seems great.

TheQueef · 11/10/2019 16:01

Last week watchdog did a feature comparing dyson/shark/vax in their product test.

I have a corded miele and a Dyson v7.
I wouldn't buy a Dyson again.

HalloumiGus · 11/10/2019 16:03

Steer clear of Dyson ours has been an expensive disappointment constantly getting blocked and hard to empty.

TanselleTooTall · 11/10/2019 16:05

I bought that Bosch, the slimline white one when it came out a few years ago. At first, very, very good. About 10 months later of near daily use running over carpets, and hoovering stairs once a week - crap. Bought a Shark and the Bosch has been thrown into Room 101.

Two older DC, one baby, one cat. Me and DP. I was not impressed.

joystir59 · 11/10/2019 16:05

Bosch Pro Animal Athlet. Good suction but only gives 12 mins on turbo setting which is what I use all the time, so would not recommend.

MissPepper8 · 11/10/2019 16:06

We have a Roomba that is used to vaccume the floor downstairs, I hate that it gets stuck mind but it puts itself back after it's done.

I also have a Henry that I use for upstairs and if Im cleaning for visitors I'll do it downstairs. I'd happily swap my Henry for Gtech or a Shark though, heared great reviews for the Shark.

TanselleTooTall · 11/10/2019 16:06

I've had Miele before. I really rate them.
