To think Catherine Zeta-Jones is an inspiration!

I was in the hairdressers yesterday and so provided with the obligatory copy of “Hello” magazine. Anyway, in it was CZJ and I just thought she looks fantastic. I’m 45 now, so the 50s are looming and I love seeing a woman like that who is 50, but more stunning than ever. I also think the same about Amanda Holden who I’ve met a few times and she’s another one who has improved with age. I know AH is not popular on MN, but why not? AIBU to think these two defy the myth that women should just let it all go as they get older?

I think Kaia Gerber is absolutely stunning as is her brother. And Carys ZJ is very beautiful too. I think they’re all model material if that’s what they wish to do. Though it would be so good if some of these actress/model offspring would do something other than modelling.

gubbsywubbsy · 13/10/2019 06:47

@icedpurple .. true .. I'm 45 and I'm forever being told I don't look it .. I don't really have any lines on my face and have straight teeth and naturally long eyelashes which all helps to look youthful. Of course I don't know what I'll look like in ten years but I'll never have Botox . The idea of it doesn't appeal to me plus I hate the way Hollywood women look weird .

Shmithecat2 · 13/10/2019 06:50

@TheVanguardSix

For me, actions speak lounder than fillers.

Christy Turlington, now there's an inspiration.

Good grief, yes! Fell in love with her 30 years ago. Still can't think of a woman more beautiful than her.

SleepyKat · 13/10/2019 06:54

Amanda Holden looks stretched, and plastic. Like a barbie doll. Not a look I’d choose but she obviously has. Her face doesn’t move properly when I see her on TV. I think it’s sad people think that’s a good look and that us mere mortals could also have some botox to try and emulate her.

CZJ looks good in that photo, no idea what she looks like in real life/on tv. Hopefully not as frozen as Amanda. She was amazingly stunning when younger.

Notajogger · 13/10/2019 06:54

I thought CZJ must have done something - started a campaign or done something great for charity - from the title of this thread.

But no, it's just that she looks nice and can afford to look nicer. That is so far from any definition of "inspirational" that I can think of!!

IcedPurple · 13/10/2019 11:29

Didn't C ZJ say something about how a million $ wasn't much for 'people like us'? Even if true, it's a rather unpleasant thing to say publicly.

Mrsjayy · 13/10/2019 11:56

Yeah she said it when they took Hello magazine to court for invading their wedding. It has been quoted out of context a lot.

pigsDOfly · 13/10/2019 13:31

I thought CZJ must have done something - started a campaign or done something great for charity - from the title of this thread.

That's exactly what I thought when I clicked on it.

But no, it's just another rich woman who's has a lot of expensive clothes and has had work done to keep herself looking as if she's been preserved in some sort of Hollywood idea of youth.

Haven't read the whole thread, I must admit, but has the OP come back and explained why that is in any way inspirational?

midnightmisssuki · 13/10/2019 13:41

Sorry - how is she inspirational? She has lots of money and has had work done to make her appear younger, she’s not growing old gracefully. This is not you’re average 50 year old you know? Normal women don’t have this much work done to look 10 years younger.

GabsAlot · 13/10/2019 15:04

Nicole kidman looks terrible not great-her mouth hardly moves she speaks funny now and her face loks frozen

Drabarni · 13/10/2019 15:08

How on earth is vacuous an inspiration.
Both of the women you refer to were in the public eye due to the men they married.
Yes, they'd have had a career but would have been over years ago Darling Buds of May was decades ago and AH was another WE singer until her marriage hit the news.

malteasergeezer · 13/10/2019 15:16

That's because the OP is stumped for a reply, pigs.

I mean Imelda Marcos had a wicked shoe collection but she wan't an inspiration .
Philip Green is a rich bastard but he's ...well, a fat bastard.
Katie Hopkins is famous and probably rich but she's a total cow with no friends.
CZJ...she's rich and pretty because she doesn't have to work and pays for plastic surgery and loads of servants do do all her work for her.

Inspirational? really? only if you 'aspire' to being a useless parasitic sleb.

WallyWallyWally · 13/10/2019 15:28

I look at her and see someone desperately trying to stay relevant inside a crappy unfair system, where women must look youthful, beautiful, sexy and wrinkle free while their male partners can age naturally without being judged in the same way.

Nothing ever changes in this respect. YAB totally U.

pigsDOfly · 13/10/2019 15:29

I find it a very sad that people see these sort of people as inspirational.

It seems that the message that parts of our society is sending out to our girls and young women is that 'get big tits, stuff your face full of fillers and crap' and everyone will love you.

Marie Curie is/was an inspiration. CZJ is not.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/10/2019 15:50

These horrible boney legs sticking "provocatively" out of a slit-to-the-thigh dress always make me shudder!

Stringly calves and thighs, knees like trapped angry babies - no thanks girls - just cover up the turkey flesh and stop soiling our eyeballs.

Lilyannarose · 13/10/2019 16:12

I guess people have different views on what or who is inspirational.
For me it's a young man who gets by in a world without words that he struggles to understand, having never spoken a word in his life.
My twenty year old son!

I don't see "looking good at 50" as inspirational. Sorry.

WalkofShame · 13/10/2019 16:15

I think we established a few pages ago that the OP meant aspirational not inspirational, in that she likes the way they look and would like to look like them.

There were a few quite balanced posts from people who disagreed and spoke about people they might aspire to look like. It all seems to have gone a bit tits up again now as we’ve gone back to the OP.

RoseQuartzGlow · 13/10/2019 18:56

@SchadenfreudePersonified

I agree with what you say!!

pigsDOfly · 14/10/2019 13:49

I think we established a few pages ago that the OP meant aspirational not inspirational, in that she likes the way they look and would like to look like them.

That's not what she said in her OP.

Did the OP actually say that's what she meant? Does that mean that she's saving up her pennies to get herself lots of expensive work so that she can look like CZJ?

As aspirations goes, it isn't aiming very high tbh.

JaneJeffer · 15/10/2019 18:23

just cover up the turkey flesh and stop soiling our eyeballs.
My eyeballs are soiled reading your ridiculous post.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2019 14:02

< hands Jane a wetwipe>

Please dispose of is safely. Thanks

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2019 14:04

That's not what she said in her OP.

No it isn't. I think it's what she changed to when everybody pointed out that being a tribute to the plastic surgeon's artisan's "inspiring".

She slithered out of it.
