Neobona NIPT?

OneSliceIsNeverEnough · 10/10/2019 22:34

Sorry but this is another one of those posting for traffic posts.

I posted in pregnancy but didn't get any joy so hope you dont mind me having a try here as it's time urgent.

To shorten the story from my original post, I need an NIPT. I've been researching like mad but local ones to me seem to be in beauty style clinics..??

Anyway then I read something about Neobona.

However I can't find any clinic that offers it or prices .

My question is, (are)

Anyone had Neobona? Is it better then harmony or the other few types? Where offers it? How much is it?

Failing that, which other NIPT would you recommend - is it ok to go to one of these salon type places for it?

I'm so confused and am not a habitual private patient but am keen to get the test to avoid an amniosynthesis if I can due to the risk of miscarriage. Naturally I'm pretty frightened for my baby and being told i needed the test was a shock so advice would be really well appreciated.

Ps I live in the bottom of the north west if that helps with any clinic recommendations.

What's an NIPT?

Brookers01234 · 11/10/2019 10:37

Hi OP

I had my NIPT testing here

www.thisismy.co.uk/ultrasound-genetic-screening-centre-manchester-uk/

Manchester City Centre in Spinningfields. I also had a 20 week anomaly scan here after the NHS anomaly scan could not be completed despite 2 attempts.

They fitted me in really quickly & offer weekend appointments as well

I actually live in Liverpool & this was the closest/most convenient clinic.

I had the results back in 5 working days, despite the test being done on a Sunday & the samples sent to Rome for testing

Hope everything goes ok for you :)

It's a type of prenatal test. I was just assuming that anyone who has had it would know, sorry for the confusion xx

If you need one why won’t the NHS provide it? I had one on the NHS just over 2 years ago.

OneSliceIsNeverEnough · 11/10/2019 10:41

Merry do you live in Wales? It's not offered in England. Amnio looks like the next step and so the midwife suggested NIPT.

No, I live in London. Let me check - I might be getting confused...

Merryoldgoat · 11/10/2019 10:54

I definitely had a blood screening test which was separate from the Nuchal translucency one.

I remember her saying that it was like the private tests but they don’t give the sex info on the NHS. Looking online my trust does offer early screening so I think we’re one of the few to offer it.

Sorry you’re having trouble accessing the care. I assume you’ve had an ambiguous translucency scan?

Andysbestadventure · 11/10/2019 10:56

It is offered in England if you need it. Not sure why your care provider is saying it isn't?

OneSliceIsNeverEnough · 11/10/2019 10:58

I had an nhs blood test too but as I understand it it doesn't analyse the baby's DNA, it just looks at hormonal changes. It came back and put me in the high risk category. DNA analysis would apparently give a much clearer idea. :-/

Did any of you manage to find a clinic in London that offers the NeoBona test? I am also interested in having the test.

Thanks
Andreea

I've just had the Panorama test done at the This Is My clinic I Leeds. It was £410 but is all singing all dancing with a 99.9% accuracy rate. The lab is in the states but I'm assured the results will be back next week.

Winterwoollies · 31/03/2020 23:19

I was offered NIPT on the NHS. It’s quite a big blood test and it was sent to St George’s in Tooting. I think most trusts offer it if you need it. As it happens, it came back fine but a later anomaly at the 20-week scan meant I still had to have an amnio.

Grumpos · 31/03/2020 23:34

I had a NIPT last year in Leeds. It wasn’t the Harmony it was a different brand but effectively they do the same thing, this one just came back a bit quicker (4 days).

It was a “this is my” clinic - which a PP has linked above.

The whole thing took about 30 mins and results back in 4 days, it cost around 450£.

Don’t get it done in a beauty clinic, go to a reputable private medical clinic with trained medical staff!

Best of luck
