Gaming party?

Hi!

I have a computer mad 9 year old. He wants a gaming party but all the places I have found are so so expensive.

Anyone know of any gaming party vans/ gaming companies that come to the house in the east of England?? or any other ideas for a gaming party? (though I could rent some consoles and games, but I have no clue about computers. Would this work? any tips?)

Help!!!

What type of gaming party? Mass mine craft on Xboxes?

A every type of console going party?

What exactly is he asking for?

BrieAndChilli · 10/10/2019 17:40

Have you tried your local Game shop? Some of them have rooms in the back with PCs and consoles. They all link up so they can play together.
The party is quite expensive but you can also just pay for an hours gaming which works out cheaper.

There is a page of Facebook called gaming van council. Have a look on there and see if there are any in your area?

GameCrazyBoy · 10/10/2019 17:54

Thanks Brie, I didn't k ow Game did that.ill look into it.

Oneformetoo - I don't think he's too bothered but we don't own any Xbox or switch or any consoles. He has one Kindle! If I hire equipment (sorry I know this sounds stupid, but I literally have no clue about computers!), Would I hire say 1 Xbox, and then 1 game, and then 4 or 5 hand set/joy stick things? Would it be straight forward to set up? Or would I have to hire a couple complete x box per child and pay for a game per child? Is it easy to set the games up?

Thanks for any tips!!

Buy him a switch. Ask friends to bring theirs. Set up 2 tvs 8 kids max pizza popcorn sweets other trears he likes. Job done.

Also stick cool music on ipod and let them Choose their own tracks.

1.5h max.

GameCrazyBoy · 10/10/2019 18:00

Zen - I am liking this idea! If I rent 4 switches and 2 screens, then can they play 4 kids on each screen? Do they have 4 player games? What games would be good for such a set up? (Can they play FIFA with 4 kids per screen?)

If he’s computer mad but doesn’t have a console then what is he actually asking for as his party?

GameCrazyBoy · 10/10/2019 18:01

Ps.thank youZen, starting to feel more confident I can actually do this!!

My son had gamingvault for his 10th birthday,it's like a bus that comes to your house.
We had about 12 to the party, they get an hour and a half on the bus which is fully supervised then I did pizza hotdogs and cake after in the garden.
All the kids loved it.
I'm in the southeast and it cost about £180 not sure what your budget is but I know he charges for travel.

GameCrazyBoy · 10/10/2019 18:03

SpoonyJo - he wants to have a go on a console! Any consoles will do, bit he's been on about an Xbox, switjc, that type of thing! Currently he plays Minecraft and roblox on a Kindle! And FIFA on his cousins Nintendo DS. We can't afford to buy him a console just yet, but I know he will LOVE a party where he gets to try it and play with his friends :)

Thanks dontknow - we looked at gamingvault, but we can't quite afford it as they charge a fair bit to get to our region. That's the kind of thing he'd love though, if anyone knows a budget version?

I think I'd avoid renting stuff if you don't have experience of gaming. I don't know how on earth you would manage to get them set up to be honest. What about a party with a minecraft/roblox theme and use the money you save to buy a console? We got our x box second hand much cheaper than new.

OrchidInTheSun · 10/10/2019 18:54

I don't know where you are in the east but there's quite a few gaming buses in Essex.

ZigZagToTheBeach · 05/10/2020 11:23

@GameCrazyBoy I know this is an old thread but I'm just wondering what you ended up doing for your son's gaming party? I'm looking at doing something similar.
