But let’s face it - the association that some people have is more with 17yo tracksuit wearing pregnant teens than it is with 40yo high court barristers...

So that’s why some people like to sneer and say they look tacky. Nice.

Yes, they do, but on the other hand there's nothing wrong with tacky. Go with what you like.

I love hoop earrings, I’ve got loads of all different types. I think they suit me. I have never ever owned a tracksuit or trainers

Unfortunately the larger ones don't always sit right in my ear so I don't wear them to big.

I think you have to have the face and the edginess to wear them. I don't go larger than roughly 2" because I'm usually surrounded by babies. I would love for someone to tell me they look tacky though lol oooo!

I love them. Started wearing them again recently and I think they make my face look better than my pearls.

I wear them cos I have massive hair and little earrings vanish and are a waist of time. I wear with lots of black clothes and doc martens.

I live in an area where part of the outfit of the tracksuit wearing, smoking mums are big hoops. And a bun - preferably pretty much on top of the head.

I am probably an arrogant cow but these mums looks tacky to me along with their (e)cigs and constant effing. and as the hoops are part of their uniform, I see them as tacky too.

Lets face it, hoops were disapproved of because they were traditionally worn by ethnic minorities.

I love wearing hoops and idc what people think of it. I think it would depend a lot on the rest of the outfit to be able to make a judgement.

I think they look nice depending on who’s wearing them and how, but I cannot stand small hoops! Either wear studs or a decent sized hoop! Small to medium sized hoops just look grumpy and shit!

I think they were associated with gypsy traveller communities, and that is where the negative association has come from. Which is very sad if you think about it. Also the "chav" connection with the tracksuit etc is another underclass.
