To think the police wouldn't ring with charges?

My DM got a call this morning, they knew her name and said she had 3 charges against her and had she had any letters of her local police station.

When she said no and tried to get of the phone they started shouting her name, she put the phone down and they haven't rang back!

The number was 02085020254, when tried to ring it back nothing happens!?

Tell her to ring her local police station from a different phone and ask.

seems to be a scam

Oh this is a scam, I saw a video where they had rung a police officer telling her the same thing, they wouldn't tell her the charges against her but they wanted her to confirm personal details so "they could get the charges dropped". If the police were going to arrest her I imagine they'd just turn up.

Yep scam.

Google next time Op. it’s very easy.

That's very weird. You can't be charged until you've been interviewed under caution with a solicitor, surely? Can she call the local station and get legal advice if need be?

RuffleCrow · 10/10/2019 09:41

Ah xpost

A quick Google of the number shows it's a scam Who Called

SerenDippitty · 10/10/2019 09:43

Yes scam. I had a recorded message purporting to be from the HMRC saying a warrant had been issued for my arrest!

CheeryB · 10/10/2019 10:20

Definitely a scam. Ignore.
