Talking to your ex

A and b are in a serious relationship have been for 4 years and have a small child together
C is A's ex they split up about 5 years ago

Recently a+c have been messaging a lot, nothing awful initially just catching up, but A has been lying about a few things basically bigging himself up in terms of his job and life ect messages contain lots of "xxxx" at the end of each message

B found out and is quite upset is yet to bring it up with a

B is a friend and I'm not actually sure if I think she is being unreasonable or not I can see why she's upset but there hasn't been any obvious flirting so I think she might be over reacting a little so who IBU

From a liberal point of view it seems quite normal to me that any person would seek out gratification outside of the normal scenario. It may be that A + B are in a very serious best friends for life kinda relationship but that doesn’t stop a + c from wanting to show that they are still sexual beings, by promoting their validity to one another, in probably a totally harmless way. Probably good for them to get it out their system like this in fact. Rather than have any pent up lack of misadventure ha

Based on the detail you have provided it is not clear if anyone is being unreasonable. A is not necessarily behaving unreasonably in messaging an ex (but he could be, depending on the content).

And B’s concern about A messaging his ex is not unreasonable. This would concern the majority of people and she has a right to feel the way she feels.

Singlenotsingle · 10/10/2019 03:23

A should be more considerate of B's feelings. Obviously B is going to be concerned.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 10/10/2019 06:24

Of course B is upset! A is bigging themselves up for a reason and it's to impress or make C envious. Why would he be doing that?
Sometimes read between the lines before telling someone they Abu.

I feel sorry for B. One for having a twat as a partner and two for confinding in the wrong friend.

dray9925 · 10/10/2019 07:49

A is very friendly and there have been other instances that sometimes make b a little bit uncomfortable mostly with the way he talks to some other women again there's always lots of "xxx" in the messages but B has always thought she was just being very insecure
This one definitely feels different though not only was he flat out lying about his career when it comes to their young daughter he is lying about how much he does playing like the amazing doting dad when there's just no need hence why we wanted opinions on weather B should bring it up with A

Yeah A is being a douche and B is well within her rights to pull him up on it.
