Drinks with no sweeteners

Posting for traffic. Since the sugar tax it’s been hard to find drinks without sweeteners. All my favourites are ruined. Winter won’t be the same without a hot Ribena! Anyone know of anything I can buy? Struggling with HG and can’t keep water down but can keep other things down.

You can still get full sugar san pelligrino lemonata in Ocado. It’s in tall skinny 330ml cans rather than the standard coke style cans. Lovely sugary lemony-ness.

Other than that and full fat coke everything else has been ruined

I had really bad HG back in the day with my son's pregnancy, ending up in hospital for a while, as I was not able keep any food down. I lived in a lovely North London women's hostel and was constantly supplied with Ginger Ale and Sprite by other residents, they stayed down. Like a saline solution for diarrohea (?), if you can't cope with the fizz, it will still keep you hydrated when flat.
Don't forget the plain crackers and ginger biscuits!

But, like others I find it really annoying that I have my full sugar fruit squash option taken away from me. I don't like fizzy drinks or water particularly. I hate 'alternative' sugars, I want to know what I am drinking is natural, not some chemical subsitute.
Eventually - about 6mths, I was able to go to a cafe and eat a full plate of food. So what doesn't kill you makes you stronger or hungrier!

What about Mr Fitzpatricks? Loads of flavours and they're traditional recipes. I'm sure if you rang them they'd give you the info you're after too (they're local to me and are fabulous to deal with!)

@cockcrowfarm Yes they do. Just finished my rhubarb and moving on to the bluberry. I really liked the ligonberry too.

I like Scweppes but it isn't very sweet. As a PP mentioned Arabic/ Middle Eastern /Turkish tend to do a good range a sugary cordials. Might not get blackcurrant though.

Batqueen · 10/10/2019 22:07

@FizzyIce Actually I go for the fruit infused drink because I can’t drink sugary drinks unless having a hypo (diabetic), can’t drink caffeinated drinks after about midday or will be up all night so it’s actually super exciting for me that things like this are now being created.

The sugar tax doesn’t really seem to please anyone. Most drinks still have too much sugar in for the likes of me to drink without affecting my blood sugar unless fully diet ie they’ve replaced enough of the sugar with sweetener to get around the tax but it’s still too much. So in effect - people with health issues still avoid it and now people who dislike sweeteners do too. . .

FizzyIce · 10/10/2019 22:11

It wasn’t a dig, I just realised its simply about taste for me , no other reason

shinynewapple · 10/10/2019 22:21

Have a look at more expensive organic drinks

maxybrown · 10/10/2019 22:34

I'm loving this thread because most people I know just happy with the sweeteners so I'm almost looked upon like a total weirdo as if I'm making it up!

Pisses me off so much that the choice has been taken away from us.

It tastes like pure poison to me makes me.want to hang my tongue out Grin

adriennewillfly · 10/10/2019 22:39

YANBU I hate artificial sweeteners, but I do find it funny how we've gone from looking for no added sugar to no added sweeteners.

Serin · 10/10/2019 22:40

We grow blackcurrants and make our own. Just 3 bushes gives enough fruit to make about 10 bottles of syrup and it's delicious.
Cant abide sweeteners.

maxybrown · 10/10/2019 22:40

I'm.not sure which Morrisons squash don't have sweeteners because they started adding sweeteners to their high juice at least 4 years ago??

PancakeAndKeith · 10/10/2019 22:43

San Pelagrino have brought out a ‘classic’ range. You can get it on Ocado.

maxybrown · 10/10/2019 22:50

Oooh! I loved San Pellegrino!

Elphame · 10/10/2019 23:54

San Pellegrino is a Nestle brand so off my buy list for that reason

happycamper11 · 11/10/2019 06:45

Oh and bottle green and belvoir the raspberry bottle green is amazing. Both are pricey though. Don't even attempt to buy anything in Lidl- it's all laced with the stuff

maxybrown · 13/10/2019 19:57

Well I scoured the very few international shops we have and nobody had the vimto Sad one shop said have you tried Iceland Grin so that was that. Am very sad. Found it online at a cash and carry but think it's collection only and not near here, hmph

Devonishome1 · 13/10/2019 21:30

Sainsburys high juice tastes nice. We’ve had blackcurrent and summer fruits. No sweeteners.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 13/10/2019 22:01

I buy bottle green squashes. DS likes the Rocks Blackcurrant (but I don’t).

TateWorm · 15/10/2019 18:53

Thanks to everyone who mentioned Rocks, went into Morrison's today and ours has it now so I grabbed the blackcurrant one and I love it, reminds me of Ribena which I haven't had in ages. I actually couldn't tell you the last time I had a nice glass of squash of any flavour to be honest, all the other brands were well over £3 here (£2 for Rocks) and no flavours that really appealed to me in the others to make it worth spending that. I'll be getting the orange one next, might try it with fizzy water since I haven't had a Fanta or Tango in years as well.

I've also put it into the fridge after the warnings on here about it going off, so I won't stock up but I'll grab a bottle when I fancy it.
