Ok I'm due a review on my antidepressants, made the appointment last Friday. On monday I went the doctors during work. I've been I'll and bed bound since then. Ears, throat and headache. Sickness too. The nurse practitioner said it sounds like vertigo. AIBU to keep my antidepressants pill review but use it for my illness or shall I call ahead and tell the reception I want the appointment but for my illness?

Do both?

Yellowskies1988 · 09/10/2019 11:34

I thought each appointment was 1 issue

You don’t need to phone ahead and you can use the appointment for both.

TheQueef · 09/10/2019 11:35

It is but if you are quick with AD review you can do both.

Maybe it depends on the doctors, I don't think that's a rule at my surgery

TheQueef · 09/10/2019 11:38

They don't like people not seeing the doc for ages then turning up with a list of ailments for the 8minute appointment.
It doesn't mean circs like this.

At my GP, you're meant to have one appt, one issue, but a year or so ago, I turned up to an appointment (made about 3 weeks earlier,) said, "I made the appointment to discuss this, but actually, I think this abscess [which had grown overnight - usually these things wait till just after an appointment to appear] is more urgent." So we looked at that and he prescribed antibiotics and told me what to do if it didn't improve - and then we talked about the original issue, which probably wouldn't have taken a whole appointment anyway.

So I would go and say you booked for the AD review, but need the vertigo looking at more urgently. As TheQueef says, it's to avoid never turning up and then coming in with a whole list of things.
