To ask for the best twin names ever?

I have twin boys. I won't tell you their names but they are not related or themed. Think Dave and Tom rather than Jack and Daniel.

I do love hearing about twin names though and how different parents deal with it. Do you do obvious links, themes or just two completely different names?

I know grown up twins Natasha and Natalie, both called Nat for short.

My twin nephews are called Joe and Leo. Nothing unusual but they just go nice together.

Bourbonbiccy · 08/10/2019 21:02

The first ones that sprung to mind was Bert and Ernie BlushBlushBlush

BelfastSmile · 08/10/2019 21:03

@Ssmiler my DS did the opposite - there were identical twins in his nursery and he couldn't get his head around them being 2 separate people. He learnt the name of one before the other (let's say it was Paul) and he referred to them as "the two Pauls".

mnahmnah · 08/10/2019 21:03

A good friend of mine was in the maternity ward with a woman who called her twin boys Ant and Dec

Talkallday · 08/10/2019 21:04

Always thought it was odd that a girl went school with called Kelly, had sister Ellie, brothers were Wesley & Leslie. Didn't understand it!

NaviSprite · 08/10/2019 21:05

My twins are George and Felicity. Some family members still do my head in by repeatedly asking “why didn’t you go for George and Georgia, it writes itself!” D:

Catsandchardonnay · 08/10/2019 21:12

Ah I wish I’d had b/g twins and named them Shiraz and Chardonnay. I actually know of someone called Chardonnai 😬

SevenOhFour · 08/10/2019 21:14

Melanie and cara
But Melanie goes by Mel
So it's cara and Mel
Caramel
Mum planned it being that way 🙄

Fluffyhairforever · 08/10/2019 21:16

My brothers are twins and they are Jeremy and James.

NoSuchThing · 08/10/2019 21:20

This sounds too incredible to be believed, but it is true... When DS was in SCBU there were twins in the same room called Heaven and Nevaeh.

GingerWombat · 08/10/2019 21:20

Twins I know:
Terry and Tony (identical)
Ian and Andrew (fraternal)
Coral and Marie (identical)
Alexandra and Victoria (fraternal)
Terry and Trevor (identical)
Carlo and Carly with older brothers Carl and Carlos. Dad was Carl (unsurprisingly)
Sapphire and Zephaniah
Aileen and Colette (fraternal)

Stinkycatbreath · 08/10/2019 21:27

@babbi you must be in Salford. There were twins called this when I worked at the hospital there a few years ago.

Iamagree · 08/10/2019 21:29

Florence and Fred...
(Ok I made that one up)

FeeLock28 · 08/10/2019 21:31

I have G&B twins, and when I joined a twins club whilst pregnant, was advised not to do the whole, 'Topsy and Tim' thing as it makes it difficult for each child to grow as an individual: they are lumped together as 'the twins' quite enough as it is. That was additionally important with identicals. Our two's names are simply those that we liked.

QOD · 08/10/2019 21:32

I know of boy twins Buster and Buddy ...
I knew an Esme and Sara

UnicornPug · 08/10/2019 21:34

I once taught triplets called Wayne, Shayne and Jayne. Their surname was Delayney. They were known as Wayney, Shayney and Jayney Delayney. 😂

In my first year of teaching I had 2 sets of identical twins. Selina and Serina and Alisa and Adisa.

Other than that, the only names that stand out are where there’s a really traditional name paired with something more modern. Eg Eliza and Jai and Benedict and Kelsey.

And my favourite sibling group ever.... Rose, Scarlett, Ruby, Red.... and Sophie-Grey.

SomeKindOfMonster · 08/10/2019 21:35

I know twins Theo and Leo. I thought it was strange until I read this thread 😂

Greeni · 08/10/2019 21:36

I know twin boys called Dashiel and Sebastian, but they get called Dash and Bash

WatchItGrotchet · 08/10/2019 21:36

I always think of the poster that had Philippa Winter and Vivienne Gray.

The poster was Linguaphile

Such beautiful names.

andpeggy1 · 08/10/2019 21:37

Polly-Hester and Terri-lynne

TwoPlusTwoEqualsTrouble · 08/10/2019 21:40

Name changed to ask thejoxter - do you know me?! Are you in Gloucestershire? You’ve named my twins in your post. Spent ages trying to find names we loved that were on no way ‘twinned’. I actually sobbed when they were 3 weeks old and someone said ‘oh, merry and Jerry, how lovely!’ - we use a different shortening for Jeremy and it never entered my head that Jerry was a shortening for it!

We did dabble with Edward and Jacob in case of 2 boys but thankfully someone pointed out the twilight connection! (Popular when they were born)
