To wait for him

I am in love with my best friend .He has a girlfriend but For many reasons based on what he says and what he does, I believe that they will not last.
I will never show my hand while they are together and I find it very painful if he name comes into conversation. I’m a shit actor so I just divert conversation. She dislikes our friendship.
Do I wait for him as I think he would be worth it in the long term or as a single woman in her early 40’s, do I cut my losses.?
Thanks.

And neither do you @angieloumc.

Seconded

Why do some posters have to stick the boot in.

V few people are perfect.

I'd go for it. You've nothing to lose. Also if you date your best mate it means you don't have to do that awkward getting to each other first date malarkey. However if the feeling isn't mutual then it's going to be as if not more awkward. Is that a risk you are willing to take?

Yes he sounds like he's being a bit of an arse. But if you are firm friends then you of all people would realise that he has a nicer side to them. As do most people in that situation

If you do decide to go for it please come back with an update on how it turns out.

DarlingBuds19 have you not read the things OP has written about this lady who has done absolutely nothing but have the misfortune of being the girlfriend of the object of her affections? I'm not sticking the boot in, she's very unkind.
OP, good job I'm not fussed what you think of me.

Thamks @Wizzbangpop but it’s best I leave it for the moment. I sure will return with an update if something happens

bluebell34567 · 07/10/2019 22:21

or maybe two.

Chuneysandpickles · 07/10/2019 22:25

I’ve read many many threads similar to my own but never as complicated from the aspect of hiding feelings for such a length of time .
