Very eclectic.

Olly Murs
Go Go Penguins
Kacey Musgrave
Some random weird You Tube crap
Imagine Dragons
Kaiser Chiefs

Leah2005 · 06/10/2019 22:08

Tame Impala. Unknown Immortal orchestra. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Oh - Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Why do you ask?

aibutohavethisusername · 06/10/2019 22:08

K-pop

NobdieTheNob · 06/10/2019 22:10

I have teens aged 15-18.

One listens to classical music and only classical music (R3).

The others listen to rap shite.

Why do you ask?

TheresWaldo · 06/10/2019 22:11

Mine loves 21 Pilots as favourite band but has a playlist that incorporates everything from now to Nirvana to the Beatles. After seeing RocketMan she is currently into Elton John! Billy Eilish is a recent one she mentioned. I can't keep track.

LemonScentedStickyBat · 06/10/2019 22:13

Literally nothing except certain video game incidental music. I find it odd but he loves it.

Kim82 · 06/10/2019 22:14

My 15 year old dd listens to two bands I’ve never heard of - Why Don’t We and Road Trip. No idea who they are, where they’re from or what they sing but she’s obsessed with them in the way only a teenage girl can be.

Awrite · 06/10/2019 22:17

Green Day, Nirvana, Oasis, Eminem, some current stuff.

She loves all my old rock/metal stuff, will make playlists for us to listen to in the car.

Different stuff for jogging to I guess.

I really should find out what current stuff she likes.

DimensionalShambler · 06/10/2019 22:18

15yo daughter listens to k-pop and Billie Eilish, 19yo daughter plays synth in a band and listens to everything from early American folk music to 1960s garage to 80s dance to current grime and drill and everything in between. She got her interest in music from me, her father still listens to the same ten bands he liked when he was at uni 20+ years ago.

Why do you ask?

couchparsnip · 06/10/2019 22:20

13 year old DS has similar tastes to Theres Waldo's DD. 21 Pilots and Imagine Dragons, are often on. Cavetown is also being played a bit lately.

He also listens to Queen, Nirvana, Blink 182, The Cure and lots of old stuff.

daffydowndilys · 06/10/2019 22:21

I just happened to have radio 1 on the other day and the music was utter tripe, it was all gangster rap.

I'm not surprised big cities have such bad gang/knife/gun crime when songs about running from the cops etc is sensationalised.

I was really cross!! Blush

lljkk · 06/10/2019 22:24

The list is endless.
K-Pop (BTS), Khaldid, 21 Pilots, Hozier, Imagine Dragons.
HipHop. She also quite likes 80s sentimental upbeat stuff, like Cranberries, Journey, Billy Joel, Dire Straits, Steve Miller Band & Pretenders.
Recently discovered she likes some Beatles songs.
Overwhelmingly upbeat items. Not into dirges. No Muse, barely any Radiohead.

gingersnaps01 · 06/10/2019 22:27

Was sent this the other evening.

Thehagonthehill · 06/10/2019 22:35

I can't be told as I'm too old to understand, even though the seems to be a lot of 60/70 music played.
In my day you were yelled at to turn the music down now you have to walk upstairs to call them for anything as they have ear buds in and will not look at their phone if it is you calling .

StripyTShirt · 06/10/2019 22:37

@Kim82 I'm going to see Why Don't We on 22.10 with DD13, she made me buy meet and greets! I'm so excitedHmm

mejon · 06/10/2019 22:39

K-Pop and Billie Eilish. Considering her dad and I play lots of indie/classic/alternative rock, we're deeply disappointed in her shit taste in music!

implantsandaDyson · 06/10/2019 22:51

Girl in Red
Rex Orange County
The Killers
Elton John
Prince
Movie soundtracks
Calvin Harris
That's the 12 and 14 year old. The 8 year old listens to the radio, and anything "poppy". Although we were all in a shop recently and Stop by the Spice Girls came on and all four of us knew every word.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 06/10/2019 22:54

Ed Sheeran, the Beatles and Adele and he’s an 18 year old boy!

zebrasdontwearbras · 06/10/2019 23:07

The DD - K-Pop

The DS15 & his mates were in the back of the car the other day, and I was surprised to hear them playing stuff like the Pixies and the Cure - ie. records I still own, what, 30yrs later?! Also Pink Floyd and the Beatles.

Paddy1234 · 06/10/2019 23:09

Rap shit
Grease
Very mixed indeed

Mistigri · 06/10/2019 23:10

Teen 1 listens to a lot of k-pop and is also into stuff like frank ocean and Kendrick Lamar.

Teen 2 has extremely eclectic tastes - big fan of stuff like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Mac deMarco, Ty Segall but he has pretty wide tastes including classical and jazz (he's a musician).

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 06/10/2019 23:17

So far am feeling quite proud! Hates most pop and all of what she calls Rap shit!
Listens to...
David Bowie
Queen
Heard some Billy Joel coming from her room the other day-though no idea where that came from
ABBA-lots of ABBA!
Lots of 80’s stuff too-George Michael, blow mobiles, smiths etc
So in the main am happy to hear it!

OhMsBeliever · 06/10/2019 23:27

Oldest (just out of his teens) - Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, Legend of Zelda music, Panic At The Disco, weird YouTube fanfic type musicals.

2nd born - The Beatles, Nickelback, Keane, The Feeling, twenty one pilots, Imagine Dragons, Queen, ABBA, LED Zeppelin, Rush, and anyone that plays really long songs (he has autism and it's one of his obsessions)

3rd child - My Chemical Romance, and a few songs by Panic At The Disco and Fall Out Boy, but mainly MCR.

4th child - does not listen to music (but he's the one taking GCSE MusicHmm)

Last born(almost a teen) - twenty one pilots, Imagine Dragons.
