My wife is demanding pants, but I don’t want to offend, either way?!?!

Unless you're planning on energetic dancing then no one will know either way. Your bum, your rules

HirplesWithHaggis · 05/10/2019 19:19

Is it your own kilt, or a hired one? Our local hire company request the wearing of underpants.

Grumpyrealist77 · 05/10/2019 19:21

Her “friends” will try to lift it, apparently?!
Cork is a bit damp this time of year, but then again, if the whiskey is flowing...

Cleverplayonwords · 05/10/2019 19:21

I'm Scottish, every man I know wears underwear under a kilt.

TimeforanotherChange · 05/10/2019 19:21

Are you Scottish? If so, YANBU.

If you're not Scottish why are you wearing a kilt?

Grumpyrealist77 · 05/10/2019 19:21

Lol!!!
Ewwww!!
It’s mine!!!!

How about a G string? That would cover.......all bases. Grin

As a PP has said, if it's a hire job they will want you to wear drawers anyway.

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 05/10/2019 19:23

Massive (or moderate sized, who knows?) cross post Grin

Pomegranatemolasses · 05/10/2019 19:23

Aren't you worried you'll outshine the bride?

Miztique · 05/10/2019 19:23

It's not your fault if her friends try and lift it Grin. The weather is shite over here at the moment, so you'll probably be chilly. Then again I'm sure you're used to that in Scotland Grin

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 05/10/2019 19:24

Was 'cork' a typo OP? Arf!

Grumpyrealist77 · 05/10/2019 19:24

My father and family name are Scottish and I got married in my family tartan kilt.
But I’m a Londoner, if that matters...?
But, anyway, pants or no?!

OP posts:
berringer · 05/10/2019 19:24

I'm scottish and my husband never wears pants with his .

LoreleiRock · 05/10/2019 19:28

Scots always wear pants under a kilt at a wedding. They only don’t wear them when going to battle, (So they can shit and run) You are not Scottish or you would have known that.

Grumpyrealist77 · 05/10/2019 19:28

Aren't you worried you'll outshine the bride?

My wife thought this too, but we’ve asked and been green lighted and there’s gonna be a fair few Irish kilts anyways...

Don't wear pants. You'll be fine.

Huntlybyelection · 05/10/2019 19:29

lorelei eh? Nonsense. I don't know any man who wears pants with their kilt.

onthebusoctopus · 05/10/2019 19:30

Wear pants

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/10/2019 19:32

These underneath kilt.

Sorted.

AgentCooper · 05/10/2019 19:33

Pants are a good idea. And i’m Scottish. I give you this cautionary tale from Greenock.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 05/10/2019 19:33

DH has never worn pants with his kilt.

Wheat2Harvest · 05/10/2019 19:34

Cork is a bit damp this time of year

I read that as 'Cock is a bit damp this time of year'!

Watfrordmummy · 05/10/2019 19:36

Why would you even ask? DH and DS both wear kilts as has my Dad (we're Scottish), and it's never been an issue.

A properly fitting kilt with sporran will never be an issue.

TimeforanotherChange · 05/10/2019 19:37

Grin @Wheat2Harvest! That's my favourite post this evening.

I don't know any Scots who wear pants under a kilt.

Somerandompersons · 05/10/2019 19:37

I'm scottish and don't know anyone who doesn't wear pants.

Pants less is something that non Scots do thinking they're being authentic.

Wear pants.
